Explanation: In massive pulmonary embolism, a large embolus is lodged at the bifurcation of the pulmonary trunk. Since blood is pumped from the right ventricle into the pulmonary trunk, this pulmonary trunk massive obstruction causes the heart to fail, leading to obstructive shock.
