We publish reports from the last Moscow mitap! And let's start with virtual personalities
vĆ li: Sock puppets: virtual personalities for OSINT
Materials, where all the links and resources from the report are presented
As you may have noticed, we have a lot of GEOINT tasks on the OSINT-investigations forum. Almost always, their goal is to find the exact coordinates of the place from the photo. šŗ
But modern technology often solves such problems in a ridiculous couple of clicks and one minute of time. The latest version of the Google Lens search engine finds literally any point on the planet, if there are photos of them from a similar angle. Too simple tasks by geolocation we even call lenstasks. š
But it is very inconvenient that the search is linguistically dependent. According to the photo of a typical Soviet building, you get a photo from Russian real estate sites, if the browser language is Russian, but you do not get photos of all similar buildings around the world!
And in this case, solving tasks (and even inventing them) turns into a lottery! Googleable in Russian language, doesn't googleable in English... What should do?
š Well, you know me: I've developed a tool to search for images in all available languages.
https://github.com/soxoj/lingolens
What it can do:
- collect similar pictures and links of sites on which they are located
- change search languages through config file (rus/eng and polish by default)
- make an HTML-report with all the pictures without duplicates, you can quickly scroll through it and find the right one
- pin the original picture in the report so that you can quickly compare with the search results š± real killer feature
In the future, I will make an .exe file, it will be enough to drag the desired image to it, and the report is ready. š«
As always, it's free and open source, but donations to the development of tools and OSINT mindset are welcomeš
Successful geoints!
