The hijacking of an Israeli cargo ship by the Houthis off Yemen in the southern Red Sea will have global consequences, but Israel will feel the pain initially. Insurance costs for Israeli companies shipping goods through the Red Sea will rise exponentially. Delays of shipments destined for Israel will increase due to the fear of being hijacked in the Red Sea, ships will have to use the South African shipping route. Israeli goods will become expensive and buyers will seek alternatives.

When can the war between Iran and Israel possibly begin? Since Israel has postponed its invasion of Gaza due to "bad weather conditions" and Iran is currently using all its diplomatic capabilities and has yet to attend the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation meeting on Palestine. Iran and Azerbaijan inaugurated the project of creating a land corridor that will connect the territory of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through Iran. Another diplomatic win for Iran. This corridor will prevent Azerbaijan from thinking about further incursions into Armenia, but it also means that the land link between Azerbaijan and Turkey (and Turkey to Europe) comes under Iran's control.

Did you know that the S-400s Turkey bought from Russia have not yet been activated and are kept in a warehouse? The United States is concerned that the S-400 could be used to collect intelligence on NATO aircraft and systems, including the F-35 fighter jet. So it did not allow Turkey to activate the S-400 missile defence system and it seems that Turkey will never do so as long as it is a member of NATO.

The Saudi government's latest provocations are nothing more than an effort to appease the domestic Saudi public The Saudi coalition has lost all the proxy wars it has waged to Iran, so it had no choice to normalise relations with Iran and recognise Ansarullah's authority in Yemen. MBS is now trying to make peace with a neighbour who started out confronting the Saudis with AK-47s and now possesses ballistic missiles with a range of 2,000 km. If Saudi Arabia wants security, it should behave accordingly and respect Iran's national heroes and leaders. The 2030 Vision of MBS could turn into Vision 1930 if things go south.
