An argument I often hear from Christians is that most of our recent ancestors were themselves Christian, so if we really honor and worship our forebears we should follow their footsteps and convert to Christianity. This is completely turning a blind eye to the following; (1) We have plenty of evidence that Europeans continued to practice their native customs and beliefs well after the “official” conversion of the elite in European society. (2) Christianity has only been a part of European history for at the most 1,700 years, and our traditions are traceable to the end of the last Glacial Period 25,000 years ago (It’s very likely that they would have existed in some way or form even longer than that), and lastly (3) even if we went by this flawed logic, who’s to say that our ancestors can’t be wrong about something? Must we live, believe, and survive exactly as they did? Of course not. A Mexican who wishes to honor and worship their tribal Gods today will obviously not make human sacrifices every month. Just as most Germanic Pagans, such as myself, don’t kill our own animals for Blot (a rite). With time things change, but ultimately truth stays the same. Christianity has failed the European world. Now we are returning to our native faiths, and as a result will come to relearn how to live in harmony with nature and the cosmos.

It’s been stated before by great channels, but I feel it should also be said here. To acknowledge that you are a part of a greater picture, to understand that there is a common root between different traditions around the world, to see that cultures, though they are isolated completely from one another, have shared or the same moral standards and cultural practices, is not discrediting any tradition. It isn’t saying that all of the Gods from every culture are one, and it isn’t to push some sort of multicultural agenda. It is simply acknowledging that universal truth exists among humanity and the cosmos. If you are a Pagan of ANY tradition, and you say that the idea of truth whether it be perennial or universal is destructive or Marxist, then you have no basic understanding of what truth even is. You have no basic understanding of philosophy, you are falling to folly and you are a slave to your ego. When two isolated cultures come to realize the same divine principles and are in tune with nature and it’s laws which the Gods have made, that isn’t Marxism, that is living in harmony with the divine, and the cosmos. It is complete nonsense to disregard that there is truth and there are lies. Do you think our ancestors since time immemorable lived as moral relativists? Of course not. Divine Law whether it is heeded by Europeans, Asians, Africans, Native Americans, etc. is in the end, Divine Law. Hail the Gods Hail their sublime authority over mankind.

This is one of the only surviving depictions we have of the God Tyr. It’s depicted on a bracteate found in Trollhättan, Västergötland, Sweden.

Another thing which closely resembles the Vajra is the Donderbezem, a stave used to protect buildings from lightning strikes in the Netherlands and northern Germany to this day. One of the most important traits of the Vajra is indestructibility. In the Ramayana, after Indra struck Hanuman with his Vajra, the gift he bestowed upon him was that his body would be as strong as the Vajra.

It seems that the shield found in the 8th Valsgarde boat grave from Sweden had the same vajra-like design. The grave is from the 7th century just like the Sutton Hoo burial from England.

While looking at the Sutton Hoo burial to get inspiration for a shield I’m currently making, I was looking at the design for the handle and I noticed it had a very familiar shape… The artwork that is on the Sutton Hoo helmet, and shield is blatantly odinic in nature. The mask of the helmet is theorized to depict Woden himself. The design of the shield handle resembles the shape of a vajra greatly, or possibly in Old English it would be known poetically as wuldortānas, or “glory twigs”. Referencing lightning bolts. A very common weapon associated with the Sky-Father in Indo-European religion. While wearing the mask may have invoked Woden to possess the wearer, to hold the shield may have been believed to invoke the protection of his spear known in Old Norse as Gungnir. The animal art on the handle depicts ravens, dragons, and possibly snakes. Animals that are very heavily associated with the Allfather. Völuspá 17-18 Three Aesir Gods came to Midgard and found upon the seashore two trees with little might and with no Úrlag (destiny, fate, spiritual connection and movement/progress). These trees were then given Ond/Athem (soul), Wód (divine inspiration, emotion), and physical being (blood, behavioral traits, and Godlike looks meaning not only physical form somewhat comparable to the Gods, but the ability to perform as specified by them for higher purpose than any other life form). The Ond/Athem (soul) is our true being as opposed to our physical body (the Lich) which rots and decays til death (the word Lich most commonly refers to a corpse thus giving greater awareness of the fragility of physicality). This Athem was given to the first humans by Allfather. Wód (divine inspiration and mind) was given the first humans by Hunir, and our physical being (blood, body, behavioral traits and Godlike looks) was given us by Loður. This was the beginning of Mankind. • Wóden - Ond (North Germanic)/Athem (West Germanic) • Hunir - Wód • Loður - Physical Being (blood, body, behavioral traits, Godlike Looks) After these gifts mankind is naked and capable and thus understands his current embarrassment. The Gods give Mankind Divine clothing which further separates them from the lower species which have cognitive abilities, physical body, soul, etc. but not the means to transcend their animalistic traits as humans have. Gods give man clothing representing Man's ability to transcend their animalistic nature and their responsibility to things both high and low. Our stewardship of Midgard and our acceptance of our place in hierarchy. Then we had the further development of man as depicted in the Rigsthula poem where Heimdall/Hama visits three households. The first family is of a low class and he stays with them giving them a child of Divine ancestry which gives rise to the class of Thralls. The second family is better off than the last and he stays with them as well. He gives them a child of Divine ancestry which gives rise to the Freemen (Karls). The final family is of high standing. He stays with them and gives them a child of Divine ancestry. This child gives rise to the Nobility (Earls) of warriors, priests, and rulers. His descendent in turn becomes the first King and gives rise to the further development of Nobility in having warrior, ruler, and priestly traits (this all by direct teaching from Heimdal/Hama - war knowledge, rune knowledge, religion). In all of this Heimdal gives Man Divine blood mixture, social order, and religion. In essence he gives Man all the tools necessary to further uphold their position in materiality as a higher species. Heimdal/Hama - gives man blood mixture with the Divine, social order, and religion all to uphold our duty in life towards all things high and low. The first king becomes the progenitor of mankind known in bygone days as Mannus (cognate with Manu in the Vedic Tradition). He gives rise to all the ancient lines. Scyldings, Inglings, etc... These lines rule over the Folk body in their various tribes. Mannus becomes the progenitor of the higher humanity starting with the ruling lines of the Folk.

Here is an arrow with a head made of a seashell. It is from the early Bronze Age, 3600 years old, and was found in the Northeast Jotunheim mountains in Norway. It’s amazing how well preserves it is after all this time.

The full moon on the 29th of this month marks the beginning of what our Anglo-Saxon ancestors called, Winterfylleth. The etymology of the word is a compound of the Old English words “winter”, which means winter, and fylleth, meaning “a filling/full moon”. As the name implies, this would be the beginning of winter to the Anglo-Saxons. To the Germanic peoples, winter was seen as a time of the dead because of the nature of the time of year bringing death to many plants, crops, trees, animals, people etc. This would also mark the time of year that Óðinn’s army of the divine dead start their hunt, also known as the Wild Hunt across the Germanic world.

I was studying the symbol known as the wolfsangel (German for “wolf’s hook”) and have developed some personal speculation surrounding the symbol and a possible connection to Tyr binding Fenrir… A little history first, the wolfsangel is wrongfully assumed by many to be a modern symbol, in fact its history dates back to the 8th century (that’s the oldest one I’ve seen so it could be older). As the name implies, the purpose of it was to catch wolves that threatened livestock. When wolves weren’t endangered and nearly hunted to extinction, they were a serious threat to farm animals. Because of the design’s success, there became magical associations with the hook. Such as being a symbol to ward off wolves or even evil. Today in Germany you can still find it on the designs of some brick houses, it’s also used on marker stones in some forests. It became a symbol for the German peasant revolt in the 15th century and in the 17th century 30 Years War. Looking at the way the trap works.. it reminds me a bit of the binding of Fenrir. The wider end of the trap would be attached to a chain and hung from a tree, while the hook itself would be lodged into a chunk of meat. The wolf would gulp the chunk of meat while the hook would impale it, similar to a fish biting a hook. In the myth where Fenrir is fooled into being bound by the divine ribbon gleipnir, Fenrir only accepts the Gods putting the ribbon on him if one of them sticks their hand in his mouth as a sign of good will. None were brave enough to do so, or even feed Fenrir, except for courageous Tyr. So the War-God himself knew what had to be done for the sake of the safety of his kin. He put his hand in Fenrir’s mouth and the binding began, and Fenrir ultimately swallowed Tyr’s hand. Though the wolf was bound his jaw was free, and he strove to bite the Gods so “they thrust into his mouth a certain sword”. That would be his gag. It’s possible that the bait used to trap wolves would be associated with the hand of Tyr.. Thank you for reading my speculation on this interesting symbol. I hope you enjoyed it
