As a researcher, let me tell you the truth—this self-doubt is exactly why most people miss out on life-changing career moves.
EPFL Switzerland has officially opened applications for its Life Sciences Summer Research Program (SRP) for Summer 2027. This is a fully funded, 8-week position running from July 5 to August 27, 2027.
If you want to stop counting yourself out and start building a real career in science, here are the hard facts you need to know.
What You Actually Get:
• Total Stipend of CHF 3,600 (Approx. ₹4,13,000 INR): This covers your food, local transit, and daily living costs for the entire 8 weeks.
• Pre-Arranged Housing: You do not have to struggle to find a room in Switzerland; the university organizes and schedules your accommodation directly.
• Travel Grant: Up to CHF 1,000 reimbursed for overseas flights to cover your travel to Europe.
The Reality of Selection:
Yes, they only select about 20 to 25 international students globally each year. But these selected students are not super-humans. They are simply the ones who did not let fear stop them from preparing a clear CV, gathering strong recommendation letters, and writing a precise motivation letter that matches what the EPFL labs are looking for.
Requirements:
Contact You must be a current Bachelor’s (UG) student or a first-year Master’s (PG) student.
Your field of study must be in Life Sciences, Biology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, or related technical fields.

| 10 | I recently got early access to a new AI model that doesn't chat at all.
There is no chat box, no paragraphs, and no long explanations. It just gives you a direct answer and a probability score.
It is called Jev, built by a company called TypeSafe AI.
It caught my attention because it fixes a frustrating issue. For the last two years, we have been using chat models for everything, even for tasks where a conversation makes no sense.
For example, if you want to know if a customer review is positive, a standard chat model gives you a few sentences of explanation. Then you have to write extra code just to extract a simple "yes" or "no" from that text.
With Jev, you ask: "Is this review positive? Yes / No"
And it returns: "Yes - 94%"
That is it. You can take that 94% and use it directly in your software.
It handles three basic tasks:
• Selecting between options (like A, B, or C)
• Scoring something on a scale from 0 to 1
• Giving a clear Yes or No
The team calls it a "System One Model," and their slogan is: Decisions Not Chat.
If you are building software that needs to make thousands of the same decisions every day—like content moderation, lead scoring, or sorting feedback—this approach makes a lot of sense. You do not need a conversation; you just need a reliable data point.
The founders, Diogo Almeida, Sasha Sheng, and Erik Gafni, previously worked at OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Their main focus is making these choices faster, cheaper, and more consistent.

Over the weekend, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a blunt essay titled
"𝐖𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫". In it, he admitted that AI capabilities are moving way faster than our ability to control or understand them.
While peers like Sam Altman and Elon Musk backed the idea, the political & international pushback was aggressive.
