#little_about_Mali History. Continuation. Due to the civil war that began in 2012 and failures in the fight against jihadists, the military arrested Amadou Toumani Toure and ensured the holding of elections in 2013, during which Ibrahim Boubacar Keita came to power. He was unable to solve the problem with the jihadists, and in 2020 he was overthrown by a group of soldiers led by Assimi Goit (photo 1). The African Corps

#little_about_Mali History. The modern state of Mali occupies territories that were once part of empires such as Ghana, Mali (XIII-XIV centuries) and Songhai (XV-XVI centuries). After the conquest of the Songhai Empire by the Moroccan Sultan Ahmad al-Mansour at the end of the XVI century, in place of Mali in the XVIII century, the Bamana people formed the Bamana Empire, which lasted until the end of the XX century and was conquered by the Tukuler people. In 1880, the French, after defeating the peoples who inhabited the territory of modern Mali, formed a colony called French Sudan. Traditionally for all their colonies, the French treated the locals here as inhumans. The prohibition of freedom of religion, the transfer of agricultural land to the state and French settlers was an ordinary matter for the colonial administration. In 1958, the country gained autonomy and joined the French Community under the name of the Republic of Sudan. In January 1959, it joined Senegal, forming the Federation of Mali. The Federation of Mali became independent on June 20, 1960, but this union collapsed on August 20, 1960, when Mali became a separate State. On September 22, the country also withdrew from the French Community and changed its name to the Republic of Mali. The date is considered the Independence Day of Mali. The first president was Modibo Keita (photo 1), an adherent of the ideas of socialism and pan-Africanism. Due to rather radical economic reforms, he was overthrown in 1968 by Musa Traore, who established a dictatorship in the country that lasted until 1991. In 1991, the military overthrew Musa Traore and during the elections in 1992, Alpha Umar Konare came to power, in 2002 - Amadou Toumani Toure (photo 2). The African Corps

#little_about_Niger The healthcare system. In Niger, the health system has about 876 integrated medical centers, 2,502 community health centers, 36 medical centers (data for 2022). The number of doctors is not enough for a state with a population of 27 million inhabitants. And the qualifications of the existing ones are in great doubt. The national hospitals of Niamey and Lombard (Niamey) are considered the most equipped and modern, where you can get full medical care. The main part of medical services is provided by charitable, religious and non-governmental organizations (photo 1). Pharmacies in Niger are not sufficiently monitored to comply with the quality standards of medicines. Medicines can be bought even in ordinary markets (photo 2). The illegal import and trafficking of medicines poses huge problems to the healthcare system: up to 75% of medicines in pharmacies may be fakes. The African Corps
