Using the Project Lifecycle for Software Projects
The project lifecycle guides software teams from idea to completion. It keeps scope, cost, and schedule clear and manageable.
How to Apply It:
1. Initiating
Approve the software idea and assign a lead.
Example: Approve E-learning platform.
Tools: Google Docs, Notion.
2. Planning
Define project scope, schedule, and resources.
Example: Plan 4 sprints and assign developer tasks.
Tools: Jira, Trello, ClickUp.
3. Executing
Build and deliver core software features.
Example: Develop APIs, design UI, run code reviews.
Tools: GitHub, GitLab, Figma, Slack, VS Code.
4. Monitoring & Controlling
Track progress and manage changes or risks.
Example: Review sprint results and fix bugs early.
Tools: Jira dashboards, Asana reports, Toggl, Google Sheets.
5. Closing
Finalize deliverables and get client approval.
Example: Deploy final version and hand over documentation.
Tools: Notion, Google Drive, Miro (retrospectives).
