The Fedâs Next Move: Relief or Red Flag?
Markets are betting the Fed will start cutting rates for the first time since the pandemic.
Equities are near record highs. Gold is breaking records. Bitcoin is waiting for liquidity to flow again.
History shows:
Cuts often spark rallies.
But they can also signal deep cracks beneath the surface.
2001 and 2008? Cuts didnât save stocks. 2020? Liquidity drove one of the biggest bull runs ever.
This time, inflation is still above target, debt is higher than ever, and savers face shrinking real yields.
Sound money advocates argue: rate cuts donât fix the system they mask the fragility. Hard assets like gold, and increasingly Bitcoin, may be the insurance people turn to.
đ Rate cuts are coming. The real question: are they a lifeline or a warning?
| 2 | UK on the Edge?
Bond yields are at 25-year highs. Debt is near 100% of GDP. Inflation is the fastest in the G7.
Investors are demanding more return to hold UK debt and confidence is cracking. The âmini-budgetâ scars of 2022 are back in play, and every misstep risks sending yields even higher.
Meanwhile, households face rising prices and stagnant wages, while the government juggles tax hikes, spending U-turns, and exploding debt costs.
Markets arenât fooled. Sterling is sliding, auctions clear but at a steep price, and gold is hitting fresh highs as investors hedge against UK risk.
Is Britain the canary in the coal mine for the developed worldâs debt trap? | 145 |
| 3 | When inflation spikes, banks collapse, or global powers flex military muscle, humans do something strange.
They donât always rush to dollars.
They donât even always trust their governments.
They reach for gold.
Why?
Not because they understand monetary policy.
Not because theyâre experts in macro.
But because the instinct is older than fiat itself.
Gold triggers something deep in the human brain:
Scarcity: Thereâs only so much of it. You canât print it.
Time: Itâs been valuable for 6,000 years longer than most nations.
Safety: When systems break, gold doesnât ask questions. It just is.
Itâs not just capital preservation. It's an ancestral memory.
The instinct that says: when the world burns, hold what lasts.
And in 2025, with war, debt, and digital surveillance on the rise
That instinct is coming back.
Sound money isnât just an asset.
Itâs a psychological anchor. | 142 |

| 5 | Goldâs Record Quarter Q2 2025
Gold has been rewriting the script this year.
The LBMA Gold Price averaged $3,280/oz in Q2 up 15% from Q1 and 40% from a year earlier.
Global demand hit 1,249 tonnes, worth $132bn the highest quarterly value ever recorded.
Central banks added 166 tonnes, keeping reserves on the rise even after last yearâs surge.
Investment demand was the standout, up 78% YoY, led by ETF inflows and strong retail bar/coin buying.
Mine production reached a Q2 record of 909 tonnes, while recycling rose only 4%, a sign that households are holding on rather than selling.
The story is simple: gold demand is broad, structural, and global.
From ETFs in the West to retail investors in China and India, to central banks diversifying reserves everyone is adding, not reducing. | 116 |

| 7 | Gold just hit $3,500/oz, a new all-time high.
That number speaks less about metals and more about trust breaking down.
The dollar is losing purchasing power.
Global conflict is accelerating.
And central banks? Still hoarding gold.
But retail is still asking, âIs it too late?â
Hereâs a better question:
Why do the largest institutions in the world keep buying more?
Theyâre not chasing price.
Theyâre hedging against the future.
This isnât about speculation.
This is about preservation. | 102 |

| 10 | Crypto Just Got Invited to the 401(k) Table.
On August 7, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order that could reshape American retirement forever.
For the first time, Bitcoin and Ethereum may soon be included in 401(k) plans right alongside mutual funds and bonds.
Thatâs over $12 trillion in retirement assets potentially opening up to digital assets.
This move:
â Instructs the SEC and DOL to guide safe crypto integration
â Signals asset managers to start designing crypto retirement products
â Unlocks tax-deferred growth for long-term crypto holders
â Reframes Bitcoin from speculation to structured, institutional allocation
But with opportunity comes risk:
â Volatility still lurks
â Fees could erode gains
â Near-retirees face potential overexposure
â Fiduciary liability is a real concern for plan sponsors
The upside?
Crypto isnât fringe anymore. Itâs now part of the system savers trust most: retirement.
And it might just be the most transformative shift in the sector since index funds. | 126 |

| 12 | Currency vs. Country
What outlasts what?
In 1945, there were 65 national currencies in circulation.
Today, most are gone.
In the past century alone:
â Zimbabwe saw its dollar collapse⌠four times
â Argentina has had five different currencies since 1970
â Even the mighty British pound lost 99% of its value since 1914
And the empires behind them?
Also fading.
Some slowly. Some overnight.
But gold?
It outlived Rome.
Byzantium.
The Ottomans.
The British Empire.
And maybe next⌠the dollar.
Gold doesnât govern. It doesnât tweet.
It doesnât need GDP or foreign policy.
It just exists.
Trusted. Scarce. Immune to politics.
Thatâs why central banks still stack it, long after currencies collapse and maps are redrawn.
At IPMB, we donât bet on the next empire.
We build infrastructure for what outlasts them all. | 174 |
| 13 | The Price of Peace Is Paid in Gold
When wars end, speeches make headlines.
But the real settlements happen behind closed vaults.
And more often than not, in gold.
Itâs not nostalgia. Itâs logistics.
Gold settles when trust doesnât.
Consider the pattern:
â 1871: France pays 5 billion francs in gold to Germany after the Franco-Prussian War.
â 1919: Germanyâs WWI reparations are pegged to 132 billion gold marks.
â Post-WWII: The Tripartite Gold Commission redistributes Nazi-looted gold across 15 nations.
â 1990s: Gulf War damages are priced with gold-indexed benchmarksâeven if settled in oil or cash.
â 2020s: Sanctioned nations like Iran and Venezuela settle international trade in physical gold, bypassing the dollar grid.
Across centuries, when the talking stops, gold moves.
Because treaties can be broken.
Gold clears.
At IPMB, weâre not here to predict conflict.
Weâre building for what comes after it. | 142 |
| 14 | Gold at Gunpoint
In 1933, the U.S. government made it illegal for Americans to own most forms of gold.
Citizens were required to surrender their gold coins, bullion, and certificates to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce.
Refusal? Punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
What followed was worse: just a year later, the government revalued gold to $35/oz devaluing the dollar by 40% overnight.
Gold didnât fail the system.
The system failed goldholders.
This wasnât a rogue act in a rogue state.
It was a Western democracy re-writing the rules of money when it suited its power.
Why does this matter now?
Because monetary systems still rely on trust.
And trust can still be revoked.
Gold remains the only reserve asset that doesnât depend on policy, permission, or paper.
At IPMB, weâre not here to sell nostalgia.
Weâre here to ensure that the next chapter of gold ownership canât be erased with an executive order. | 130 |
| 15 | How do you define real wealth? | 111 |
| 16 | The 1971 Default Still Shapes 2025
When Nixon closed the gold window in August 1971, it was framed as temporary.
It wasnât.
What followed was the end of Bretton Woods, the rise of unbacked fiat, and 54 years of monetary drift.
Governments could now print without restraint.
Currencies became promises backed only by trust.
And inflation became a policy tool, not just a risk.
Fast forward to 2025:
â The US debt-to-GDP ratio is above 120%
â Interest payments are outpacing defense spending
â Global reserve demand for dollars is softening
â Central banks bought over 290 tonnes of gold in Q1 2025 alone
This isnât nostalgia. Itâs recognition.
The 1971 decision didnât just change gold.
It changed the entire architecture of global finance.
A system built on trust not on reserves can only stretch so far.
Today, as fiat credibility weakens, gold is quietly reclaiming its role:
As an anchor. A hedge. A form of final settlement that doesnât rely on promises. | 116 |
| 17 | MYTH
The dollar is unshakable.
FACT
Its grip is slipping and the numbers show it.
In 2025, the U.S. dollar's share of global reserves dropped to 57.7% (IMF data).
Thatâs the lowest in decades.
Meanwhile:
â BRICS+ accelerated trade in local currencies
â Gold reserve demand hit 290+ tonnes in Q1 2025 alone
â Central banks are quietly shifting out of fiat and into metal
This isnât panic. Itâs preparation.
A recalibration of what nations actually trust when the system strains.
The dollar isnât dead.
But its dominance?
Thatâs whatâs being re-evaluated. | 114 |
| 18 | Status. Scarcity. Sovereignty.
The three reasons gold has outlasted every monetary experiment in history.
Status
From pharaohs to presidents, gold has never just been money.
Itâs been a symbol of legitimacy, of control, of trust.
Even today, sovereign gold holdings send signals louder than any tweet or press conference.
Scarcity
Unlike fiat, you canât create gold with policy.
2024 saw total global mine production increase by just 1% YoY.
And no country not even China can scale that on command.
Sovereignty
Gold is the only reserve asset that isnât tied to someone elseâs liability.
Itâs not a bond.
Not a token.
Not a line on a spreadsheet at the IMF.
Itâs a hard and portable asset.
In Q1 2025 alone, over 290 tonnes of gold were bought by central banks.
This isnât just reserve rebalancing.
Itâs a return to fundamentals.
Because when trust in paper frays, nations donât just diversify.
They reassert control.
Gold doesnât just sit in vaults.
It anchors policy, signals strength, and protects sovereignty. | 85 |
| 19 | War, Oil, and Metal
Conflict doesnât just shift borders. It shifts reserves.
Every major war from WWII to Iraq to Ukraine has one silent consequence:
Nations move to hard assets.
Letâs look at the pattern:
â 1944: As WWII neared its end, the U.S. hosted Bretton Woods. Gold was pegged. Dollar was backed. Trust was fragile.
â 1973 Oil Crisis: Petrodollar deals gave oil-exporting nations excess dollars many recycled back into gold and treasuries.
â 2003 Iraq War: Oil volatility spiked. Central banks shored up reserves, including physical gold.
â 2014 Crimea: Russia ramped up gold buying amid sanctions. Ruble volatility met metal certainty.
â 2022â25 Ukraine Conflict & Gaza tensions:
In June 2025, Israelâs strike on Iranâs nuclear infrastructure shook global markets.
Oil jumped. Equities wobbled.
And gold? It surged to a month-high.
Because in war, the playbook is old:
⢠Fuel the front with oil
⢠Secure leverage with gold
⢠Rebuild trust with reserves | 74 |
| 20 | The $35 Myth
Why the gold peg collapsed and what it exposed.
From 1934 to 1971, the U.S. dollar was pegged to gold at $35 per ounce.
But it wasnât a universal promise.
Only foreign governments could redeem dollars for gold, citizens couldnât even own it.
Still, the world trusted that promise.
Until they didnât.
By the late 1960s, confidence was unraveling:
â Dollar supply ballooned
â Trade deficits piled up
â Foreign gold redemption requests surged
Americaâs gold reserves couldnât cover it all.
In 1971, Nixon closed the gold window. The $35 peg collapsed.
And the global monetary system became fully fiat for the first time.
The lesson?
You canât print paper indefinitely and expect it to hold the value of metal.
The system didnât break because of gold.
It broke because of policy denial.
What began as monetary order ended in monetary improvisation.
And weâve been improvising ever since. | 98 |
