| 2 | Crypto Speak: TPS
In the fast-paced world of cryptocurrencies, speed matters! Transactions Per Second (TPS) measures a blockchain network's ability to process transactions quickly, making it a crucial metric for scalability and efficiency.
For instance, Bitcoin can handle only 3-7 transactions per second due to its Proof of Work consensus mechanism. In contrast, Ethereum processes 15-30 transactions per second using Proof of Stake. Newer blockchain platforms like Ripple boast even higher TPS rates.
Improving TPS is a top priority for developers as it directly impacts network performance, fees, and adoption. Strategies to enhance transaction speeds include optimizing network performance, implementing layer 2 scaling solutions, and exploring new consensus mechanisms. As the crypto space continues to evolve, the race for TPS is on!

| 3 | Crypto Speak: Weak hands
“Weak hands” are people who sell their cryptocurrency at the first sign of a price drop. People with weak hands are usually unsure of their strategies and are easily spooked by negative news or the price action of an asset.

| 5 | Crypto speak: Mint
In the crypto world, “mint” is the process of creating a new token on a blockchain.
Oftentimes, minting refers to creating an NFT or an entire collection (“We minted an NFT collection”), but it’s the same process for issuing cryptocurrencies and other tokens.
We use this word because the process is akin to central banks using machines to print (or mint) money. However, it’s understandable if it’s difficult to fathom how something can be digitally “minted.”

| 6 | Crypto exchanges: What is a CEX?
When trading cryptocurrencies, you can use two kinds of exchanges: a decentralized exchange (DEX) or a centralized exchange (CEX). We’ll go over the differences with you today.
CEXs are the most convenient and popular way to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies.
Advantages of CEXs:
▪️ High order-processing speeds (transactions are near-instant).
▪️ A wide range of cryptocurrencies and trading pairs.
▪️ User-friendly interfaces.
▪️ Some of them are “foolproof,” meaning if you’ve sent crypto to the wrong address, the platform might be able to help you recover your funds.
▪️ Buying crypto with fiat currencies.
Disadvantages of CEXs:
▪️ They’re vulnerable to hacks and scams. Hackers could gain access to your account and steal all your crypto.
▪️ High transaction fees (not always, but it’s common).
▪️ Withdrawal restrictions and completing Know Your Customer, which is the process of presenting your ID documents to the exchange before it lets you use the platform

| 8 | What is Cryptojacking and how to avoid it?
Cryptojacking is a malicious activity whereby a hacker secretly uses your computer for mining🙂
It can happen while browsing the internet, watching a movie, or just leaving your device idle.
The worst thing is that these scammers sneakily do this in the background, Unlike other types of malware, cryptojacking scripts do not damage computers or victims' data. However, they do silently steal computer processing resources. For individual users, slower computer performance might simply be an annoyance.
Of course, cryptojacking is possible if you download malware from unverified sites.

| 9 | Crypto security tip: Spam scam coins
If you actively interact with your noncustodial wallet, you’ll soon start receiving various scam coins in varying quantities.
Scammers use them for a variety of purposes—e.g., to confuse you into sending funds to their wallet. Or to get you interested in the coin and visit their site.
We recommend you never visit sites representing these suspicious scam tokens. Crypto beginners are curious and interested when they see that a few thousand coins were sent to them “just for fun”; however, don’t believe everything at face value—99.99% of the time, it’s to deceive you.

| 10 | Crypto Speak: Merkle Roots
In the blockchain realm, ensuring transaction integrity and security is crucial. Enter Merkle roots—a cryptographic hash that acts like a digital fingerprint for a set of data, such as a block of transactions. Named after Ralph Merkle, who patented the concept in 1979, Merkle roots enhance data integrity by dividing data into smaller chunks, hashing each one, and then pairing and hashing them repeatedly until only a single hash remains.
Think of it as a digital DNA sample. Any alteration in the block data changes the corresponding leaf hash, which then propagates up the tree, modifying the Merkle root. By comparing the expected Merkle root with the actual one, any data tampering can be swiftly detected.
Merkle roots are vital in various blockchain applications like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and ZK-SNARKs for verifying the integrity of blocks and transactions efficiently.

| 11 | What is SocialFi and how does it work?
SocialFi, a combination of "social" and "finance," is a technology that merges social media with blockchain technology. It aims to reward users for posting valuable content online while giving them more control over their data and greater freedom of expression. One of its key features is the use of cryptocurrencies, enabling direct compensation for social engagement.
Successful SocialFi Platforms:
1. Friend.Tech: A blockchain-based platform rewarding users for engagement and content creation.
2. Farcaster: Integrates blockchain technology for transparency and fair compensation for content creators.
SocialFi represents a new era of social media, empowering users while addressing the shortcomings of traditional social media platforms.

| 12 | Crypto Speak: PoS
We've talked about Proof of Work (PoW) before, now let's discuss Proof of Stake (PoS).
Proof of Stake (PoS) is a consensus mechanism used in blockchain networks to validate and confirm transactions. In a PoS system, validators are chosen to create new blocks and secure the network based on the number of coins they hold and are willing to "stake" as collateral.
Validators take turns proposing and validating new blocks, with the chance of being chosen to create a new block being proportional to the amount of cryptocurrency they hold and are willing to stake.
PoS is considered more energy-efficient than Proof of Work (PoW) and is used by blockchain networks such as Ethereum 2.0, Cardano, and Tezos.

| 13 | Crypto speak: Gem
In crypto, a “gem” is a little-known token with a low market capitalization and great potential for price growth.
However, finding a gem is difficult. Not everything that has a small market capitalization is a profitable investment. More often than not, the market cap is small and the token is cheap simply because no one wants it!
But a real crypto gem can shoot up and grow in value by 10x or more.
Everyone wants to find a gem in the ocean of crypto, but few of them succeed)

| 14 | The average profit of crypto investors in 2023 was $800.
CoinLedger analysts compared about 500,000 market participants from the United States, Australia, Canada, and other countries. They found that, on average, cryptocurrency investors made $888 per person in 2023, which is amazing since investors lost $7,102 in 2022, taking into account the collapse of FTX, of course. If FTX hadn’t, the losses would have been lower.
The report reveals that the most unpopular cryptocurrency was Ether (ETH). Crypto investors got rid of it most often. Solana (SOL), Bitcoin (BTC), BNB, and Polygon (MATIC) were also in the top five.
And Bitcoin is the least frequently sold.
Also, analysts named Coinbase the most popular CEX by number of transactions in 2023, but in reality, this is probably not true because most of the respondents live in the United States, where Coinbase is the leader.

| 15 | What are Bitcoin Ordinals (aka BRC-20)?
Let’s explain in a simple way the essence of the most, perhaps, hyped phenomenon of 2023 on the Bitcoin network.
The BRC-20 standard was introduced in March 2023 by a developer under the pseudonym Domo. The standard utilizes the Bitcoin Ordinals protocol, which allows for additional data to be added to individual satoshis (the smallest unit of BTC), essentially allowing for the creation of tokens within the Bitcoin blockchain.
Let’s keep it even simpler:
The Ordinals protocol allows you to “write a note” on one of these satoshis as if you were to take a sharp needle and inscribe something on a coin.
An “inscription” can be anything from simple text to a picture or code, and thus a regular satoshi is turned into a unique token that is something like an NFT.
Implications:
BRC-20 proved so popular that it has overloaded the Bitcoin network Network fees reached up to $60 per transaction (!!!), and the speed of transaction processing slowed down significantly.
Now, the popularity of inscriptions on Bitcoin has since decreased, but this practice has moved to other blockchains, which tend to be unprepared for the influx of inscriptions and start to “crash”

| 16 | Are you familiar with the concept of social engineering?
It’s a method of deceiving people where a fraudster doesn’t hack users directly—e.g., by searching for passwords to your email account or trying to find a vulnerability in the code of a smart contract—but exploits your inattention.
Instead of utilizing brute force to obtain access to cryptocurrency assets, attackers employ a variety of approaches that exploit human vulnerabilities. For instance, attackers deploy tactics designed to fool users into disclosing private keys via easy methods like phishing emails. A user may get a phishing email impersonating wallet services or support professionals.
How social engineering works in crypto and how scammers try to cheat you are discussed in our new article. Read it now!

| 17 | Experts have restored access to a cryptocurrency wallet with $3 million worth of bitcoins
Experts helped an investor recover the password to a cryptocurrency wallet that held 43.6 BTC.
The man created a cryptocurrency wallet in 2013 and generated a 20-digit password using the RoboForm app. He stored the password encrypted, but when the file became corrupted, he lost access to the assets.
Nearly 10 years after the incident, the investor sought help from hacker Joe Grand, who discovered a vulnerability in RoboForm and matched the password to the cryptocurrency wallet, restoring access to $3 million.
