A Ferris wheel is a big, round ride that you see at fairs and amusement parks. It has seats or cabins attached to the wheel, and when it spins, people go up high and come back down slowly. The name comes from George Ferris, the man who built the first big wheel in 1893 for a fair in Chicago. Some people call it "The Wheel" or "Big Wheel" in casual talk.
