i. (PICK ANY TWO) 1. A potentiometer can measure potential difference more accurately than a voltmeter because it does not draw current from the circuit being measured. This eliminates any loading effect that can alter the voltage in the circuit. 2. The potentiometer works on the null method, meaning it does not consume power from the circuit during the measurement. This makes it ideal for measuring voltage in sensitive circuits where even a small current draw by a voltmeter could affect the readings. 3. Potentiometers can detect very small changes in potential difference, offering higher sensitivity compared to voltmeters. This is particularly useful in precision measurements and in laboratory settings. 4. Potentiometers do not require frequent calibration, as their accuracy is determined by a standard cell or a known reference voltage. Voltmeter readings can drift over time and require regular calibration to maintain accuracy. 5. Potentiometers can measure a wide range of voltages with high precision, as they are not limited by the scale constraints of a voltmeter. This makes them versatile tools for various electrical measurements. ii.) The internal resistance of a cell is defined as the opposition to the flow of electric current within the cell itself. It is the inherent resistance that the electrolyte and the electrodes of the cell present to the movement of ions and electrons. This resistance causes a drop in the cell's terminal voltage when current flows through it. Mathematically, it can be represented as: V = E - Ir where V is the terminal voltage, E is the electromotive force (EMF) of the cell, I is the current, and r is the internal resistance. Internal resistance is typically measured in ohms (?).
