➕Horst Ludwig Wessel 1907 - 1930➕ Horst Wessel was part of several National Socialist paramilitary groups until he finally joined the famous SA, Wessel was a courageous man who, with such loyalty, his desire to save Germany went beyond what can be described. A Hero who deserves to be immortalized. On January 14, 1930, he was shot in the head by two members of the German Communist Party (KPD). Albrecht "Ali" Höhler was arrested and convicted of his murder. He was sentenced to six years in prison, but was eventually taken from his cell and killed by the SA after the National Socialists came to power. Wessel's funeral received great attention in Berlin, with the National Socialist elite in attendance. After his death, he became a symbol of NS propaganda in the Reich. The march for which he had written the lyrics changed its name to "Horst-Wessel-Lied" (The Song of Horst Wessel), becoming the official anthem of the National Socialist Party.
