Addition polymerization
C) Covalent bond is a bond formed from the sharing of electron pair equally between two atoms in which each atom contributes an electron.
A dative covalent bond on the other hand is a bond formed by sharing of a pair of electrons in which both electrons are donated by only one of the bonding atoms.

2. Nature of electrodes
3. β Relative concentration of the ions in the electrolyte
g) Fluorine and Chlorine are in the same group and generally, electron affinity decreases down a group due to increased atomic radius and inter-electronic repulsion. Fluorine has an unexpectedly lower E.A compared to Chlorine because Fluorine has a very small size which tends to create electron-electron repulsion between its existing electrons and any incoming electrons. The electron has to be forced in and this reduces the overall energy released in fluorine.
h) 1. Add water to the mixture. Sodium chloride will dissolve, while sand will not.
2. Filter the mixture to separate the undissolved sand from the sodium chloride solution.
3. Heat the filtrate to evaporate the water, leaving behind solid sodium chloride.

Q1 to Q3
Qn1.
a) Utility refers to the satisfaction a consumer derives from consuming a good or service.
b).
i) Total Utility (TU) - This is the overall satisfaction or benefit that a consumer gains from consuming a certain quantity of a good or service. It is the sum of all the utility gained from each unit consumed.
ii) Marginal Utility (MU) - This is the additional satisfaction or benefit gained from consuming one more unit of a good or service.
c )
i) When a single commodity is consumed - A consumer achieves equilibrium when the marginal utility of the commodity equals the price paid for it. Mathematically, it is expressed as: MU = P
Where MU is marginal utility and P is the price of the commodity.
ii) When two commodities are consumed - A consumer reaches equilibrium when the ratio of the marginal utility to the price of each commodity is equal.
Qn2.
a) Equilibrium Price - This is the price at which the quantity of a good demanded by consumers equals the quantity supplied by producers. At this price, there is no excess supply or excess demand, and the market clears itself.
b)
1. Unemployment - If the minimum wage is set above the equilibrium wage rate, employers may reduce the number of workers they hire due to higher labor costs, leading to unemployment.
2. Increased Income for Workers - For those who remain employed, minimum wage laws can increase their income, improving their standard of living.
3. Increased Production Costs - Businesses may face higher production costs due to the wage hike, which can lead to higher prices for goods and services, potentially causing inflation.
c) Market Adjustment to Equilibrium - If the price is fixed below equilibrium - This creates a situation of excess demand or shortage, as consumers want to buy more at the lower price, but producers are not willing to supply as much.
If the price is fixed above equilibrium - This results in excess supply or surplus, as producers supply more than consumers are willing to buy at the higher price..
Qn3.
a) Share - A share represents an equity ownership of a company. It gives the shareholder a claim on part of the companyβs assets and profits.
b) Consumer Co-operatives - These are organizations owned and operated by consumers to fulfill their needs and provide products or services at affordable prices. They focus on buying goods in bulk and distributing them to members at lower prices. On the other hand,
Producer Co-operatives are owned and operated by producers, typically farmers who pool their resources to produce goods collectively and market them efficiently.
c)
i) Source of Finance - State enterprises are usually funded by the government through public revenue, including taxes and government loans.
ii) Ownership - State enterprises are owned and controlled by the government, representing the public.
iii) Control - These enterprises are managed by government-appointed officials and operate under government regulations and policies.
iv) Aim of Establishment - The primary aim of state enterprises is often to provide public goods or services, promote economic development, and ensure equitable distribution of resources rather than maximizing profits. | 266 |

J and k are two inorganic salts
Carry out the following excess on the salts
Record your observations and identify the gases evolved. State the conclusion you draw from the result of each test
(a) i)Dissolve all of J in 10cmΒ³ of water in a beaker and divide the solution into 3 portions
(ii) To the 1st portion , add a few drops of dil HNO3 followed by a few drops of AgNO3 solution
( iii) To the 2nd portion, add few drops of NaOH then in excess
(iv) To the 3rd portion, add BaCl2 solution
(b) To a spatulatful of K in a test tube, add 2cmΒ³ dil HCL and heat
(c) i) Put the remaining portion of K in a test tube and add 10cmΒ³ of distilled water and shake. Divide the portions into 3
( ii) To the 1st portion , add NaOH solution in drops, then excess
(iii) To the 2nd portion, add dil ammonia solution in drops and excess
J is *Na2SO4*
K is *Pb( NO3)2* | 239 |
