In my speaking exam, the examiner would ask a couple of job-related questions in Part 3. She: Is it better to work for money or job satisfaction? Me: Tough one. Money can buy comfort, but not passion. I’d say, we gotta strike a balance. Ideally, your job should make you smile on Monday and not just on payday. The maps illustrate information regarding changes that have taken place in a rural town from 1983 to the present day. Overall, the town has undergone significant transformation — with increased infrastructure, housing and commercial development — redeveloping it from a rural town to an urbanized locality. Notably, a dam has been erected to satisfy the need for electricity. In 1983, the town was primarily agricultural, with a forestry area located in the top-left corner, adjacent to residential buildings which were situated on both sides of the Main Road that connected the western and eastern parts of the town. While the River May flowed from north to south, passing under the Main Road, the school, post office, and police station were centrally positioned on the map. In terms of other developments, a shop, along with a farm and a windmill, had been established in the eastern and southern areas of the town, respectively. Additionally, Munster Road, which adjoined the Main Road, provided direct access to the southeastern part of the town. By the present day, the rural town has been redeveloped into a modernized locality, with the construction of additional residential buildings to meet growing demand — a development that came at the expense of the forestry area. Access to the Main Road has been improved by the construction of a new road, known as High Road, which runs between the newly built houses. Although the school, police station, post office, and windmill have remained unchanged, the shop has been expanded and converted into a supermarket. The farm, on the other hand, has been demolished to make room for a petrol station and a café.
