An ongoing debate regarding whether the government should focus on the problems within the country or the global ones has been a matter of contention. I believe that focusing on both of them while working in cooperation is the optimal solution. It is entirely reasonable for governments to focus on internal affairs. Citizens pay taxes, meaning the government is held accountable for addressing country-level issues such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and living standards. A compelling example is the Aral Sea located in my native Uzbekistan, this sea has shrunk in size many-fold leading to predicaments ranging from diminished agricultural practices, affecting the local economy, and air pollution, causing respiratory diseases among the local population. This scenario showcases the importance of taking an immediate course of action to address internal problems. On a broader level, large-scale problems—global warming, terrorism, and pandemics—carry significant weight. No matter how powerful the country is, it cannot address them alone, meaning that cross-border collaboration comes to the fore. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, international collaboration on vaccine development and distribution was essential in reducing global mortality. Ignoring such an issue in favor of narrow national interests could ultimately backfire, as global instability inevitably spills over into domestic affairs. From my perspective, putting emphasis on both of them is optimal, especially the ones that have a direct or indirect impact on their population. For instance, the shift from conventional vehicles to electric cars is not only a global environmental strategy but also a national economic and public health benefit. Combating climate change requires international efforts to reduce carbon emissions, and transitioning to electric vehicles is one effective solution. By investing in this global movement, countries can improve urban air quality, potentially preventing public health problems. In this way, contributing to a global cause leads to tangible domestic advantages. In conclusion, while some argue that governments should prioritize domestic affairs, others believe global problems should take precedence. In my view both aspects are crucial and governments should adopt a balanced approach to ensure both local and international stability. 345 words #task2
