The only real difference between “toward” and “towards” is regional usage — they mean the same thing.
✅ Same meaning:
➡️ “In the direction of something”
🗺 Regional preference:
toward 🇺🇸 American English => He walked toward the house.
towards 🇬🇧 British English => He walked towards the house.
⚠️ Important:
In IELTS or formal writing, either is acceptable, but be consistent: don’t mix both forms in the same text.
Yet for many around the world—especially in countries where private healthcare dominates—it is anything but.
