šØ Xabi Alonso was asked whether Jordan Henderson has been able to showcase his leadership skills yet or whether his focus has been purely on recovery:
āBoth, he has been very close to the teamā.
āEven being injured, he has been travelling with us [to games]. I know that he likes and he needs to have this connection with the team, to have this impact on the pitch and off the pitch.
āHe has been training very well, but still it is frustrating for him that, even being the arm, it is taking that long. I think he is in the last stage of his recovery.ā

šµ Xabi Alonso on the Arsenal defeat:
"With time, you have a deeper analysis and you can settle the emotions after the game. Until now, all the games have told us things, we have learned from them. We have talked, we have shared our feelings, our sensations in the game. Our main focus is now tomorrow."
šµ Xabi Alonso on if Palestra and Caicedo ready:
"Not yet. They're still not ready to go. It's not the moment to take too early of a risk. We'll go game by game with them, but it's too early."
šµ Xabi Alonso says Levi Colwill is OK for tomorrow.
šµ Xabi Alonso on his first impressions of Barco:
"He's a competitor. He is a fighter, he's very good with the ball, he's very open to adapt quickly but he's intelligent. When you have this mentality and this intelligence, it's easier for him to adapt."
šµ Xabi Alonso on being frustrating to not have Palestra:
"Especially for him. He came with huge energy and huge desire to enjoy the Premier League. He had a very good pre-season and then a few days before the game vs Fulham, he picked up an injury. We will need him for sure because he has a great potential and lots of good qualities."
šµ Xabi Alonso in if Estevao is unhappy:
"No, Este is ready. He's training well. The other day, he had a good impact and a good chance. With Este, I count on him 100% because of his potential because he's so young. The season is going to be long."
šµ Xabi Alonso on if he has spoken to Estevao:
"Private conversations should remain private. The season is going to be long. The players have the desire and the hunger to improve. Este is part of the group - he has a very good attitude and mentality to prepare for every game."
šµ Xabi Alonso on if Moises Caicedo is back for Hull:
"Potentially, yes, but we will have to wait. Thursday or Friday we will know more."
šµ Xabi Alonso on the process:
"It's going to be a long process but we need to be assessing where things are going. We need to be demanding as well. We need to improve. For sure, we want to have as many clean sheets as possible but the competition is hard. We are taking steps."
šµ Xabi Alonso on if Henderson and Emegha are ready to play:
"No, not yet. How far? Ask me on Friday."
šµ Xabi Alonso on if Chelsea need to get meaner:
"We want to compete. I don't know about 'meaner', or whatever, but we need to compete in order to win games. It comes in the football way and the spirit and mentality way."
šµ Xabi Alonso on Leeds game:
"We are expecting a very intense game, very tough, with lots of duels, but we need to cope with that and find solutions." š„āļø

šØ āI think we missed a big opportunity to get Gabriel sent off. I think it was Hato and Joao Pedro closest, as soon as I see my goalkeeper reacting like that Iām surrounding the ref saying āheās just been kicked in the fāing head refā put a bit of pressure on the ref, I know we donāt really want to be doing that but weāre here to win 3 points and challenge for the leagueā
āI think we need to be better at dark arts, theyāre big, Arsenal are the best at itā

Former Ecuador manager Jorge CĆ©lico blames Chelseaās Kendry PĆ”ez and those around him for the playerās struggles:
š£ āIn my opinion, Kendry isnāt being properly advised. He has the talent; I coached him in the U-17s. Technically, heās very good and has excellent vision. Heās a player whoās going to break out because he has so much talent.
It was a mistake to skip steps with him; he didnāt play for the U20s in the World Cup. That means skipping stages you should complete in your development.ā

š£ Joe Cole: "Morgan Rogers is an absolute monster, I didnāt realise. I knew he was a top player but⦠first touch of the ball, bang. He just lit the game up.
From a Chelsea perspective, itās been a great summer in terms of bringing players in and I think the squad looks more settled. Xabi Alonso is going to get better, weāve got a lot of great players."

š Gary Neville: "For me, I'm as positive as I have been for three, four, five years about Chelsea because I think they're going in the right direction.
It's not perfect. They were always going to be, I think, to be fair. Today they were on the wrong end of Arsenal because Arsenal are just such a good team. I wouldn't expect them to win today, but that was as good as I felt they could have done in the game, and I think, to be fair, they can go home tonight thinking, 'Right, okay, yeah, we can take that confidence out of that defeat.'"
