Eco-pocrisy: Solar Panels Are An Ecological Disaster, Says Experts
The much-lauded solution to all of humanity’s energy ‘problems’ will cause a “waste mountain” by 2050, a renewable energy expert says - as their lifespan is only 25 years, and there are already tens of millions of them in the UK alone.
“We're producing more and more solar panels - but how are we going to deal with the waste?” asked Ute Collier, deputy director of the International Renewable Energy Agency.
“By 2030, we think we're going to have 4m tonnes [of scrap],” she added. “But by 2050, we could end up with more than 200m tonnes globally."
For context, the world currently produces 400m tonnes of plastic annually.
But it’s cows which are destroying the environment?

I had the joy of interviewing Sebastian Pavon Urbaneja, an inspiring organic farmer in Coin, Andalucía. He is the perfect example of what a conscious, next generation Earth loving farmer looks like. Having been brought up on the farm, Sebastian discovered first hand the impact of conventional chemical and machine based farming on the health of the soil, plants and his own family. He has now dedicated himself to regenerating the land and cultivating organic and heirloom varieties of plants in a fun and experimental way.
Being an independent farmer can mean extremely hard work and long hours, but there are ways to invite Nature to work with you. Through creativity, innovation and years of trial and error, Sebastian has managed to organise his farm in a way that he can even take days off for himself now, which is normally unheard of for farmers. Beyond the practices of farming, Sebastian also shares how his farm is not only a local food market, but also a wonderful hub for learning and building community.

Here’s the replay of our latest live stream panel. Thank you Lula and Mike for bringing your vision and experience on the table, it was an amazing discussion.
We looked at how debt is a central concept upon which our modern societies have been built, and how decentralisation with circular communities and embodied reverence for the Divine is the way to bring ourselves back to equity as well as food sovereignty.
