If you don't have a plan to start with, You'll get consumed by the market and lose money while watching others make money.
I learnt this method from a well known trader Rayner, and I'll share with you guys how to improve your results:
This method is called the D.E.R.R method
Let me explain
D - Develop Your Trading Plan
Before you place a single trade, Define your plan
Β Now I want you to create a plan βοΈ, Ask yourself
-What markets do I trade?
-What Timeframe do I look to trade from?
-How much am I risking per trade?
-What are the conditions for my trade setup? (confluences)
-How will i enter a trade?
-Where is my SL?
-Where is my TP? In other words, Define your Risk to Reward
All these questions will form your trading plan. The first thing you need to do is provide answers that become a CONSISTENT set of rules to you must follow. The moment you breach your trading plan, you're closer to breaching your account and you have just signed yourself into 'the unprofitable struggling traders forum', Most traders in this forum don't even have a trading plan. Hold your trading plan to high esteem. A quote says
''Beware of little compromises, A small leak will sink a great ship''
E - Execute Each Trade Consistently
In trading 1 plus 1 may not be equals to 2, You're not dealing with certainty over here, Understand the game you're playing deals with probabilities. Whether a low prob or a high prop trade, bottom line is It's all probability. Sample your account to be able to take a couple of trades, and execute each trade consistently according to your plan, Only then would you find out what works.
I recommend prop trading for those with little capital or knowledge.
R - Record Every Trade
This is also called a journal. The best fertilizer to boost growing traders, I again recommend a pen and paper π. Your record should have;
Entry date, Market/Asset traded, Order(buy or sell), Confluences, Closed P/L(amount made or lost), Notes(how you felt before placing the trade, after closing and what you learned) Finally, document a screenshot of the setup.
R - Review Your Trades
Finally, Set a time every weekend, month end or day end to review your trades. Doing this OVERTIME helps you improve your trading plan, Because you get to find out what strategy, market, timeframe or RR is making you money or costing you money in the long run. Once you've done that, it becomes easier to shift your focus to what works for you and then your probability of success is almost certain. NO profitable or successful trader trades every market or every strategy or timeframe even though they have a strategy that works on every pair, Do your research,They only choose to stick with what works for them more, Because they know the power this method I've shared with you. The ultimate goal is to make money π° .
Is it difficult? No. Is there work involved?Β Yes
For a skill that can easily make you millions, it's only right you do the little work required of you, If you're not ready to be financial free, Don't trade, take your hard earned money and buy food to sustain your 9-5 rather than losing it because you don't want to put some work into trading properly.
