📍🏰🇱🇹Medininkai Castle
Originally designed for flank defence, this castle was at one point in it's life, a farm and a bakery, but since its restoration, it has become Lithuania's largest exhibit of items from the grand duchy of Lithuania made from silver by artisans.
History & Features:
📖A medieval style castle, built in the first half of the 14th century, with a perimeter of 6.5 hectacres, also being one of the largest enclosure type castles that Lithuania has. It's main tower, which is about 30 meters high, was used as residential quarters.
However the Castle was damaged by a major fire in the 15th century and with the change in warfare technology with the increased usage of firearms. The castle became outdated and was unfit to serve defensive purposes it was then utilized as a farm, then later became a museum hosting silver from artisans and hunting knives and trophies of the President Algirdas Brazauskas.
📍 Napoleon Orda also drew this tower in the 19th century.
📍There also was a Litas coin which commemorated the Castle.

🇬🇧 In 1863, Lithuania experienced a historic uprising against Russian rule, known as the January Uprising. Fueled by nationalistic aspirations and discontent with Russification policies, Lithuanians rebelled for independence. Despite facing brutal suppression, the uprising symbolized the enduring spirit of resistance, laying the groundwork for future quests for autonomy. The January Uprising remains a significant chapter in Lithuania's struggle for freedom, showcasing the resilience of its people against external domination.

🏢🇱🇹 Architecture in Kaunas enters the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Buildings from the interwar period (1920s - 1930s) in Kaunas, Lithuania have made it onto the UNESCO World Heritage list.
These buildings were constructed in the styles of modernism to represent Lithuania's fledging statehood. They are; the Pienocentras (Milk Center) building and the Pažanga building.
Both buildings are five stories high, to also accentuate the theme of the buildings being like metropolitan big city buildings. The ground floors of both buildings are commercial, the middle floors are for offices, and the upper floors are residential.

🇱🇻20th january, Barricades memorial day🇱🇻
January 13-27 1991 was a period of Latvian peaceful protests on the streets of Riga. These protests were set in action, to guarantee Latvian liberty and destruction of LSSR. Liberalized by the Gorbochev's policy, Soviet army wasn't in place to shoot the civilians, however at least 6 latvians got killed and 14 wounded. By the end of protests, Pro-soviet government left Riga and Latvia, leaving a country to it's people.
