Post-JAE tidbits: How Are People Selected? & Other Things So I remember seeing and hearing a lot of misinformation about JAE selection process when I received my O-level results, and also having to research more than I wish was necessary to figure out what was and wasn't true. Here are some common questions and stuff about JAE selection process! - How are applicants posted? Firstly, by net points. If net points are equal between applicants, then a series of tie breakers in the following order are used: citizenship status (citizen > PR > international student), gross aggregate score (aka raw score), computerised balloting (gacha). Balloting will only take place when applicants vying for the last course vacancy have the same net aggregate score, citizenship and gross aggregate score. Source: MOE - Does the ranking of choices matter? This is something that kept being repeated around me, and many of my friends thought that how they ranked their choices would play a role in the posting process. I found zero information confirming this presumption. My own experience has basically dissuaded me from believing that, as for example, placing ACJC as my 2nd choice would put me at a disadvantage compared to someone who placed ACJC as their 1st choice. - Will people care about my score if I barely meet the cut-off point in my course/JC? No. If they do, and judge you by your score instead of your efforts and actions, you should probably stop associating with them. You yourself know the efforts you've put in, don't do a disservice to the you that went through O-levels by devaluing their efforts. - These are my top 3 tidbits for everyone who received their O-level results today, hopefully they help lol.
