Some words of advice about choosing your uni course NO MATTER WHAT YOU CHOOSE, THE JOB MARKET IS COOKED… I’m not even capping. Whether you pursue the arts or sciences, everyone faces the same problem: j*b market I’m so fr. Ask yourself if you would rather a high GPA in a less prestigious course or a shit GPA in a “prestigious” course Choosing a course you have at least a 6/10 interest in will make it way less painful. I ASSURE YOU. I think this is less of a concern, especially for lone wolves 🐺 but when you choose your course, you’re also choosing the type of people you will be hanging out with for four years. If you die die need to vibe with those around… do some reflecting on your talents and interests Also nowadays we’re advancing into a skill based economy… I’m not going to hire you if you don’t have evidence that you’re a good worker or leader or whatever. Your degree is what you make it out to be. You are responsible for marketing yourself as a graduate of a certain degree. You can pursue a law degree and be unable to communicate properly with your peers. It’s going to show. Unless you’re rich and your mummy and daddy have connections…….. I think we’re all in the same boat haha so please PLEASE don’t gaslight yourself into thinking you love medicine when actually you just want the money (Also med school is 5 years + 5 years residency and if you are a guy u can defer but then u need to go back to NS later on… and imagine if you want to specialise in something, that’s another few more years of study. Also med SCH is expensive… so ya stop over glorifying prestige)

This is gonna sound really silly but CHOOSE YOUR UNI COURSE BASED OFF YOUR OWN DECISION.... Like don't get me wrong seeking others for advice suggestions etc is great if you really have no clue about what you want to do But it's not as if they have perfect information (haha) and honestly no one do. People might dissuade you but only you know what your priorities are and what you prefer~ I mean yes there's situations where people truly regret and change paths, but that means you know what you hate and would avoid in the future no? Y'all are grown adults, make your own choices and own it- Ok goodbye I'll go back to sleep

Happy (or not so happy) recess week for NTU ppl~~ I'll urm somehow mug for 2 midterms trust

whichever pathway youre going its never slow, you are where the universe is putting you there are people who found jobs, really good ones, during my bachelors in sim, its really not about schools but about skills you can tell me "oh neko but what about you, you have no job" well, i put myself in that situation, nothing was clicking back in my bachelors, i knew what to do but i didnt know why i was doing it it was only during my masters where i had to reallt apply it in a real world thing where i had friends (mainly laoda) asking me "why" and thats when it became more transferable i now developed an automation bot for the software my fam's company designed, as my school project but also because i started wanting to know the reason and not just the method but we should be honest with ourselves in how biased the working world is on degree holders + local uni, if youre willing to put the hard work to be recognised, schools dont matter, but if you dont want to be working your ass significantly more than ur peers, then thats where you gotta really choose the path you wanna take for yourself also, this is not for everyone, but an option eitherways, if youre adament about going into a local uni and you have the means for further education, theres always MSc thats my reason for taking the MSc, i started worrying that i did not have enough skillsets to thrive, so i was lucky enough to be able to go into an MSc im slower than some peers, but thats still ok

also SMU isn’t the only school with class participation anymore… 😭 NTU has it too and i’m pretty sure NUS does

i could also lowk be an ntu student whose sick of seeing ratings that just aren’t true 😭 but that’s beside the point… kinda

hi okay i’m back since A level results have been released and the jc kids might be wondering what schools to go for As a business school student, i have to say that all 3 schools are the same. No, you’re not going to have a straight pipeline into GS, MS, JPM or MBB just because you went to SMU. Neither are you going to be CFO in 10 years if you go to NTU. That’s just the unfortunate truth… The school you go to isn’t going to guarantee you success in the future because that’s not exactly how the world works. All 3 of the big universities in Singapore have equal standing. Employers are going to place them on the same benchmark. What sets you apart is what you choose to do during your university life. You’re supposed to show you have transferable skills, that you have interest and the drive to learn. I’m going to be honest and say I’ve never joined a case competition, and have never joined a business school club because it’s just not my thing 😅 But! I have internships that teach me what I want, what I don’t want, and what I’m interested in. I have extracurricular experience that build leadership and provide relevance to my course of study. You’re in charge of your own life. I don’t think you should listen to what anonymous accounts on Reddit have to say about your career decisions or school choices. They are not career guides or coaches, they don’t know who you are or the context you live in. Choose a school based on what you prioritise, what you value, and what you are searching for in your last 3-4 years of education. If you value campus life, go for NTU and NUS. If you like proximity, go for SMU. Do your research, find out what each school focuses on, what each programme has to offer. Talk to the students and faculty during open houses, get a sense of who they are and what they represent. That is the best you can do to make a decision. And choose within your means.

If U need to cry rage scream for joy wtv just let it out, yes it's a small thing in the grander scheme of thing but it is still the accumulation of two years of hard work Let life takes you to where you need to be :3

Evening lovelies!! Tmr is the big big day for all my A level receivers and I just wanted to say some stuff A few days ago, I came across a post — “it didn’t work out because you wouldn’t b good at it” So if you really get that 70RP later, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Go and paint the town red ❤️ But if you didn’t, don’t beat yourself up. “it didn’t work out because you wouldn’t b good at it” The course of your dreams may not necessarily be your dream anyway, it could simply be your dream because of the way you were brought up (if not, I bet wayyy less people would say they dream of being a doctor or lawyer) As someone who has been a victim of intermaxxing (including in roles that are seemingly unrelated to my major), one thing I can say for certain is that nobody really looks at your A Level grades… the shift from 90 to 70 RP alr indicates that there’s beginning to have a higher emphasis on portfolio in the near future (skill based economy and whatever blablabla) So it’s not the end yet. And I hope you know that. Cry your heart out but remember that you still have your whole life ahead of you (and that everyone who cares about your grades probably aren’t people you want to be friends with…) All the best everyone! 🍀
