Decrease perepheral conversion of T4 to T3. ▫️Anti-thyroid drugs: 1.methimazile :200mg t.d.s then reduce after 4-6 W to 100mg. 2.propyl thiouracil : 100mg t.d.s then reduce after 4-6 W to 50mg. 3.carbimazol : 20mg t.d.s then reduce after 4-6 W to 10mg. Duration : 1-2 y #Radio-active iodine : oral single dose I131. 🔺precautions: it’s important to stop anti-thyroid drugs 4 days before & 4 days after radioactive iodine therapy to prevent radioactive iodine uptake by the gland. #surgical : sub-total thyroidectomy. 🔺pre-operative preperation : 1-Anti-thyroid drugs lead to euthyroid state. 2-lugol’s iodine : to decrease size & vascularity of the gland.
