June 25, 1950 was a Sunday.
On that very day, the U.S. began an untimely invasion of our republic.
Thus, the clouds of war swept over this once peaceful land.

Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- Many people of the DPRK are visiting the Susan-ri House of Class Education with a resolve to consolidate the revolutionary position and class position in every way and steadfastly carry forward the baton of the class struggle.
This year alone, officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students from more than 1 180 units visited the house, where they hardened their will to take revenge on the U.S. imperialists and class enemies.

Korean War Reveals True Colours of the US (1)
It has been 76 years since the US unleashed a war against the DPRK. Despite the lapse of many decades, however, the former remains the object of the latter’s grudge and hatred.
Provocateur
The Korean war was the first step to translating into reality the US’s sinister scheme to expand the scope of its domination to the whole of the Korean peninsula and to a large extent spark a third world war so as to seek global hegemony.
The US plotted to break peace in the DPRK, China, the Soviet Union and other countries in favour of its bid to put the world under its control.
A thorn in its side was the DPRK which was vigorously advancing towards democratic development in the vanguard of the newly independent countries.
According to the so-called “ABC plan” worked out by the US between 1948 and early 1950, the first stage of the plan is to invade the DPRK, the second stage is to expand the war to China’s Manchuria and the last stage is to advance up to the Soviet Union.
The then US President Truman published a statement that threatened the use of nuclear weapons in the Korean war and planned to announce a “state of emergency” across the country and step up preparations for a third world war. Eisenhower, who succeeded Truman in the closing period of the war, examined on three occasions an operational plan to drop 30 to 50 nuclear bombs on the DPRK and the northeastern part of China.
Such facts tell that the US started the Korean war in pursuit of its wild ambition to check the peaceful development of sovereign states and hold supremacy over the world after the Second World War and that it even attempted to use nukes without hesitation to that end.
Crazy about its ambition for global supremacy, the US went to war against the DPRK, a fledgling nation which had been founded less than two years ago, on June 25, 1950, bragging that it would occupy the latter in the shortest possible time.
The Fatherland Liberation War was a grim war which was fought to defend the destiny and future of the DPRK and its people. At the same time, it was the first all-out war fought at the start of the Cold War that followed the Second World War, between the forces aspiring to independence and those of domination, and between socialism and capitalism. Therefore, the confrontation was unprecedented in its ferocity and gravity.
The DPRK was no match for the enemy in any respect—population or territory, military hardware or economic strength.
During the war the US mobilized a huge armed force, numbering over two million troops in total, including one-third of its ground force, one-fifth of its air force, and most of its Pacific Fleet, plus troops of its satellite countries, spent at least US$ 20 billion in military expenditure and squandered more than 73 million tons of materiel, or 11 times as many as the amount consumed in the Pacific war.
The DPRK had to wage a hard-fought war against the allied imperialist forces for three years to come.

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- Displayed at the class education bases in different parts of the DPRK were a lot of new evidence and testimonies showing the unethical crimes committed by the U.S. and Japanese imperialists and class enemies.
Among them are photos on more than 40 remains and many relics showing the shuddering massacres committed by the Japanese imperialists at a valley in Ingye-ri, Hoeryong City, North Hamgyong Province more than 80 years ago.
A stone carved with letters "Japanese and Koreans are one" on display at the Kaesong Municipal Class Education House is one of many evidences disclosing the heinous crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past to deprive Koreans of their surnames, names, language, letters and peculiar living customs.
Seven big nails and the decolored national flag of the Republic are on display at the Susan-ri Class Education House. They disclose the heinous crimes committed by the U.S. imperialists when they ignited a war of aggression on this land.
Old persons living in Samsok District, Pyongyang Municipality, disclosed the bloody crimes of the U.S. imperialists and class enemies who massacred thousands of patriots and innocent inhabitants including the head of self-defence corps of the Jangsuwon area in the most brutal way during the war.
Om Jae Ryul, an old person in Anju City of South Phyongan Province, exposes the germ war atrocities committed by the U.S. imperialists against humanity. He has lived with the burning hatred for more than 70 years since he lost his eyes by the enemy in March 1952, recalling his mother's request that he should survive and take a revenge on the enemy.

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- Workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea met at the plaza of the Central Class Education House on June 23 to vow revenge on the U.S. imperialists on the occasion of June 25, the day of struggle against U.S. imperialism.
Present at the meeting were officials of the Central Committee of the GFTUK and workers and trade union members in Pyongyang. There a lecturer of the Central Class Education House exposed and denounced the barbarous massacre made by the U.S. imperialists during the Korean War.
The lecturer referred to the fact that the U.S. imperialist aggressors, tamed with brutality and cruelty, mercilessly massacred the Korean people wherever they went.
Saying that the outcries of the souls requesting the revenge are resounding on this land, the lecturer stressed the need to mercilessly punish the aggressors, not forgetting for even a moment the bitter lessons taught by the war.
Then speeches were made.
The speakers said that the enemies' ever-growing vicious acts of encroaching upon the sovereignty of the DPRK in recent years clearly prove once again that the U.S. imperialists and the scum of the ROK are the eternal principal enemies.
They expressed their resolve to fully demonstrate the mettle of the Korean working class in the struggle to build up the absolute military muscle which the enemies dare not to provoke, while producing many more weapons to annihilate the enemy with a rifle in one hand and a hammer in the other.
Through a poem, primary information workers of the GFTUK made the participants redouble their retaliatory will to have their pent-up grudge settled without fail, bearing in mind that the U.S. imperialists are the sworn enemy of the Korean people.

Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- The West Sea Barrage is located about 20 kilometers west from Nampho Municipality in the DPRK.
The West Sea Barrage, inaugurated on June 24, 1986, gave birth to a large artificial lake with a capacity of storing billions of cubic meters of water. The water is in use for irrigation, industrial establishments and the people's life in the lower basin of the Taedong River.
The barrage has railway and motorway on it.
2 000-, 20 000- and 50 000-tonnage ships can pass through three lock gates of the barrage with a total annual freight traffic capacity of tens of millions of tons.
The barrage is making a great contribution to the development of the country's economy and the improvement of the people's standard of living.
