This is the current state of Syria - behind all the headlines and economic deals that never materialise are the Syrian people who are running after trash-dump trucks to gather food waste and virtually anything that can be sold. Not in any news, because Syrians, the Jolani cadres, choose not to speak about this. Syria is starving, the government has no liquidity and the promised economic growth has shifted into trade deficits that largely benefit Turkey

Ferhad Shami: After more than five years, my mission leading the Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces comes to an end, as the process of the SDF integrating into the Syrian Army moves forward. These years were not merely a mission or a position. They were one of the most dangerous and challenging periods of my life. It was a time when battles followed one another, threats constantly evolved, and the responsibility of conveying what was happening on the ground to the world was one that allowed no room for error. Throughout these years, I experienced the details of battles alongside my comrades, moment by moment. I managed statements, media coverage, and official briefings, and followed the documentation of field operations through images, footage, and words. Behind every statement there was a battle; behind every photograph there was a story; and behind every scene there were names, faces, and comrades who left an imprint that the passage of time cannot erase. I am proud of everything we accomplished at the Media Center, not simply because it was media work, but because we sought to preserve the memory of an entire period and to document what fighters, civilians, and comrades experienced on the ground, with all the victories and sacrifices those years carried. Above all, I am proud of my fallen comrades who lost their lives while carrying out their duties, and of all those who continue on their path today. I am also proud of everyone who worked at the Center before me — the administrators and staff whose efforts helped build its experience and establish its presence. What we accomplished did not begin with us, and it will not end with the departure of any one of us. Many faces passed before our cameras. Some of them are still with us, while others have become part of our collective memory. We preserved their photographs, voices, and moments. Perhaps the true value of those images lies in the fact that, at the time they were captured, we did not know that some of them would one day become the final photograph of a comrade who had passed away. My mission leading the Media Center is coming to an end, but this does not mean that I will stop striving or abandon the values and causes I have believed in throughout these years. Responsibilities and positions may change, but conviction does not. I will continue my path in whatever way I can, and I will remain alongside my comrades, faithful to everyone who shared these years with me and to everyone who sacrificed and gave their life along this path. Some missions come to an end, but what we believe in and strive for continues.

Young Alawite Woman Who Was Kidnapped and Released Shares Testimony About General Security Militia Involvement in Her Abduction A 25-year-old woman named “Hala Nawras Ibrahim,” from the Alawite community, gave testimony about the circumstances of her kidnapping and detention, along with her nine-month-old baby, at the hands of the #HTS-led General Security militias. Ms. Hala Nawras Ibrahim was reportedly kidnapped on May 17, 2025, together with her son Ali Youssef Khuzami, from underneath the Hamimim Bridge near Jableh. Hala Ibrahim: “General Security kidnapped me and my child from under the Hamimim Bridge in Jableh. They assaulted me several times before cutting my body with razor blades.” Hala: “When they sent me back to my family, they had shaved my head and cut my body with razor blades all over, trying to force me to sign a marriage contract with a General Security member.” Hala: “I heard other girls screaming in the place where they were holding me.” Hala: “They told my family to delete all the posts about the kidnapping once I was sent back after my family paid a ransom.” ----- It's worth nothing that multiple testimonies from other released kidnapping victims reportedly point to two men, Haitham Abbas “a.k.a. Salah”, who commands General Security militias in Jableh, and someone known as Hakim al-Diri, who commands General Security militias in Latakia province, as being involved in kidnapping women across Latakia province, covering for the kidnappers, and threatening victims’ families.

Akid Lu’meri is a Hezbollah mercenary and a former member of the Assad regime. He had direct relations with Iran, and now works within the new Syrian military police. According to the information, his brother is also part of the General Security. The Syrian government’s goal is to increase the number of army personnel, regardless of whom they belong to (ISIS, Al-Qaeda, a former Iranian mercenary, foreign mercenaries from Chechnya and the Uyghurs, and so on…).

General Mazloum Abdi: ISIS still poses a threat. ISIS remains organized and is increasingly re-establishing its presence inside cities. Although it is weaker than before it cannot be considered defeated or finished and still retains an organized structure capable of posing a threat.

▪️ The Kurdish Areas: These Kurdish areas belong to us, and we will fight for them. I told the Americans and the Syrian state that the Kurdish areas are not Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, and that we will fight for them until the very last moment. ▪️ Criticism of the Leadership: I give the Kurdish people the right to criticize me and tell me where I made mistakes. ▪️ Preventing Another War: I promised my people that I would do everything in my power to prevent dragging the Kurdish people into a second war in the Kurdish areas and to ensure stability there. ▪️ Continuing the Struggle: Once I see stability in the Kurdish areas, we will continue our struggle for Kurdistan. ▪️ Transition from Military to Political: When I came to Rojava, I was engaged in political struggle. But after the war broke out across Syria in 2013, we were forced to wear military uniforms. Now it is time for me to take it off. ▪️ Military and Political Role: When circumstances require me to be a soldier, I will be a soldier for my people. And if circumstances require me to be a politician, I will be a politician for the sake of my Kurdish people. ▪️ Kobani: When I was studying in secondary school, I brought paint and changed all the names of the schools in Kobani to the names of Kurdish martyrs. At the time, however, Syrian intelligence arrested many of us. ▪️ Thanks to the Kurdish People: I would like to thank all the Kurdish people throughout Kurdistan for their support for me in Rojava. I tell them that we suffered greatly over the deaths and capture of many of our comrades, but we held ourselves accountable. ▪️ The New Phase: We are moving into a new phase with the Syrian government, one that is very important for Rojava, and we will oversee it. We need a new struggle, and we want our people to remain hopeful and participate with us so that we can guarantee the rights of the Kurdish people in Rojava. ▪️ Afrin Brigade and Local Service: A brigade will be formed from young men from Afrin who were previously part of the SDF. It will be affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense in Afrin or nearby, so that they can organize themselves and protect their areas.

▪️ Parts of Kurdistan: Rojava helped all parts of Kurdistan, and people from all parts of Kurdistan came to defend Rojava. We will never forget the blood of the martyrs. ▪️ The Syrian State: We have entered a new phase and decided to become part of the new Syrian state, and the new Syrian leadership has agreed to this. ▪️ Rojava’s New Phase: We are moving into a new and important phase with the Syrian government. It is a very important phase for Rojava, and we will work to follow and oversee it through a new struggle and shared responsibility. We emphasize that our people must remain hopeful and be partners and active participants in this phase, in a way that guarantees the rights of the Kurdish people in Rojava and preserves their gains. ▪️ Decentralization: Centralized rule, like the rule of Assad, must not be repeated in Syria. Syria must be decentralized. This system has been tried and failed, and we must not repeat what failed before. ▪️ Idlib: I do not believe that the al-Sharaa government developed Idlib. During the days of the previous regime, our situation was all similar. ▪️ War with Turkey: Before the fall of the Assad government, we were still at war with Turkey, which was bombing all the infrastructure in Rojava, including electricity and everything else related to infrastructure. ▪️ Coordination with Turkey: Coordination with Turkey takes place regarding all parts of Kurdistan. ▪️ Turkey’s Position: Turkey had already taken all possible measures against us in all parts of Kurdistan. ▪️ Formula for Integration: We do not want to use the word “dissolution”; rather, we want to say “the SDF’s joining the Syrian army.” ▪️ Kurds Within the State: We want the Kurds to be part of this state and not outside its framework as they were previously. ▪️ Kurdish Politicians: The Kurdish politicians who will be present in Damascus are now ready and waiting for the integration process to be completed. ▪️ Sheikh Maqsoud: We were defeated in Sheikh Maqsoud, and we should have protected it. This requires criticism, and we take responsibility. ▪️ Other Areas: Regarding the other areas, we were not defeated there; rather, we withdrew from them according to the agreements. ▪️ Deir Hafer: During our withdrawal from Deir Hafer and the areas beyond it, many mistakes and clashes occurred. We are conducting self-criticism before our people and criticizing ourselves. However, there is no doubt that we should have made the withdrawal faster in order to redeploy in the Kurdish areas, because Rojava was under threat at the time and the Kurdish areas had to be protected. ▪️ Deployment in Kurdish Areas: We withdrew, but we redeployed in our areas, such as Hasakah and Kobani. I personally went out and said that we would defend our areas and would not retreat. ▪️ Oil Facilities: The oil sites that were under our control, such as Rmeilan, Suwaydiyah, and others, were officially handed over to the Syrian state. ▪️ American Companies: American companies are now coming and operating here. They have contracts with the Syrian state, and they have taken over and manage this file. ▪️ Ceasefire: Later, we reached an agreement to stop the war in order to avoid human losses on both sides. This agreement was necessary. ▪️ Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor: We left Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor because the war expanded, and we had to return to the Kurdish areas and fight there. ▪️ Recent Events: Regarding the latest events that took place, we held each other accountable, and everything that happened will be revealed to our people. ▪️ The Objective: Our decision and objective were solely to protect the Kurdish areas. ▪️ France: France is our biggest supporter. ▪️ Macron: I would like to thank French President Macron for expressing his position regarding the integration. He spoke with me by phone several times before the war broke out and established coordination between us to prevent clashes during the process of deterring the aggression. ▪️ America: America did not betray us, and it did not make us any promises.
