The Supreme Court has made a significant historical intervention, stating that the concept of the creamy layer should apply to all categories, including SC/ST, just as it does for OBCs. Furthermore, reservations should be limited to the first generation. If a member of the first generation has attained a higher status through reservation, the second generation should not be eligible for reservation benefits.
