Homesteading Systems: The Long Day Dinner Often, days evaporate and, suddenly, it's time for dinner. Having some simple dinners in the pantry is a system that saves frustration, time, and money. Tonight, we had Cabbage and Kielbasa. Cabbage keeps in the fridge for a long time, as does turkey kielbasa. Having it on hand has saved us a few times. Melt 2 T of butter in a dutch oven. Add 2 cut up kielbasa. Brown. Add 2 t. salt, 1/2 t black pepper, 1/2 t. red pepper flakes. mix thoroughly. Stir in 2 heads of chopped cabbage. Turn heat to simmer. Cover. Simmer 4 minutes. Mix. Another 4 minutes. Pour over sauce of 2 T ground or dijon mustard + 2 T of ACV. (This is pretty spicy, if you'd like to reduce the mustard or the red pepper flakes.) Do you have any Long Day Dinners to share?

The Song of Roland is the oldest epic poem in extant French literature. It tells the tale of heroism and self sacrifice in the battle to save European Christendom from Islam — Europeans from annihilation. Once again, Islam marches through Europe and, while last time our people had Charlemagne and Roland, we now have Macron and those opening the gates of the city. It seems perfectly fitting and perfectly terrible that Durandal has been stolen. May God have mercy on us and raise up the heroes we need. https://nypost.com/2024/07/03/world-news/french-excalibur-sword-vanishes-after-1300-years-lodged-in-a-rock/
