🎋 The movie is an adaptation of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, a piece of Japanese folklore from 10th century in which a miniature girl that grows rapidly is “destined” to be the Princess. The movie’s beauty lies in the emotions it evokes through the main character, to the point where you feel every single emotion she feels. And the greatness of it lies in the themes of depression, societal restrictions for women, authentic life and more.
But what makes it the Best Ghibli movie is that it’s simply humane, and that lies beneath everything, conceived only when experienced.
🀄️Also we’ll have a Kahoot game on the Studio Ghibli after the film!
