The role of youth in technological progress ⚙️ Have you ever wondered why young people play a key role in technological development? Aleksey Maystro, the head of the Center of Technological Projects told about youth in a science. His answer is simple: "If today we do not educate someone who can create, invent and develop, in ten years we will have nothing." That means – it’s easier and more effective to raise a valuable employee, then hire someone else. 👩🏻‍💼 So the Polytech is aimed on creating more working places for young people! SPbPU Names: Nobel Prize Winners! In the past century over 150,000 specialists graduated from the University. An impressive number of them became Laureates of the most prestigious national and international awards, holders and winners of honorary and distinguished awards, Members and Corresponding Members of the national Academy of Sciences, founders of new research directions and schools 🎓 Among scientists who studied and worked in the Polytechnic University are Nobel Prize winners such as: 🌟 N.N. Semenov was awarded the 1956 Nobel Prize in Chemistry or his work on the mechanism of chemical transformation 🧬 🌟 P.L. Kapiza won the 1978 Nobel Prize in Physics for his basic inventions and discoveries in the area of low-temperature physics 🌡️ 🌟 Zh.I. Alferov shared the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics for the development of the semiconductor heterojunction for optoelectronics 🔬 Who knows, maybe you will be the next? 😉

Sport clubs at Polytech The main sport complex location is: Polytekhnicheskaya 27. It's really close to the main educational building. SPbPU students designed the Quattro racing car and took 🥈 place in the competition The presentation of the car took place in Moscow at the annual international student competition «Formula Student Russia». The guys from the Polytechnic University team managed to build the lightest car. The weight of a racing car without a driver is about 180 kg, including all necessary fluids (oil, gasoline). Due to its lightness and engine power, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 4 seconds. The team returned from the competition with two second places in different categories 🎉 Weight reduction was achieved thanks to the use of modern materials in the design of the car (petrol- and oil-resistant plastics, carbon fiber, special resin compositions) and development and processing technologies – topological optimization of components and assemblies, 3D-printing, including metals, as well as optimization arrangement of nodes inside the machine 🏎️ One of the main distinguishing features of the car compared to previous cars developed by the team was the presence of a telemetry system. It is able to read the necessary readings in real time from sensors located throughout the car, and transmit readings to the team or directly to the pilot 🧭 In many respects, this was facilitated by the support of the team within the framework of the «Priority 2030» program. Also on the the basis of the Polytechnic University, the «Center for Development and Innovation of Electric Transport» was opened, which was joined by students of the engineering and racing team «Polytech North Capital Motorsport» (NCM) 🙌🏼

How to get to the main building? Routes from the dormitories 🏢 All dormitories are situated not far away from the academic buildings and undergrounds. We created 3 different maps which make the navigation for you easier. These maps show routes from the dormitories to the main educational building: 1️⃣ Dormitories on Lesnoy prospect (after coming to the Polytekhnicheskaya station, cross the gray fence on your left and you will enter the university's territory. 🏬); 2️⃣ Dormitories on Ploshchad Muzhestva; 3️⃣ Dormitories on Grazhdansky prospect. Degree programs in English📚 Besides programs in Russian, SPbPU also provides a wide range of courses for international students in a foreign language.
