2cb is a novel psychedelic discovered by the chemist Alexander Shulgin in 1974. He was investigating psychedelic phenethylamines. The three classes of psychedelic compounds are tryptamines (mushrooms, DMT,) lysergimides (LSD,) and phenethylamines (including mescaline, 2cb, and MDMA.)
For a short time, 2cb was used by a small circle of American therapists to treat PTSD. It was considered one of the best drugs for this purpose, because it has relatively few side-effects compared to something like MDMA, while still “opening the doors” in a similar manner. Shulgin proposed a trauma therapy regimen of an MDMA-assisted therapy session, followed by a 2cb-assisted session two weeks later. It was showing a lot of promise before the gov cracked down on drugs.
2cb was also sold in head shops and porn stores for a short time, because low doses can boost libido and increase pleasure with sensual touch due to its body high. It also often produces an increase in empathy and sociability similar to, though less intense than, MDMA, which can make it popular for time spent with close friends or partners.
Dosing, duration, and ROAs
These are common dose ranges, but 2cb can be unpredictable in how intense it is for someone, even for a psychedelic. There’s zero shame in dosing on the low end until you know how hard it hits you. 2cb also tends to be more forgiving to redosing than many other psychedelics, meaning your tolerance takes longer to hit and you can still intensify the trip if you take more a few hours into it. Redoses will synergize and increase intensity, so take this into consideration before taking more.
*Oral
-Light: 10-15mg, Common: 15-25mg, Strong: 25-45mg, Heavy: 45+mg
-Total: 5-7hrs, Onset: 20-40mins, Comeup: 60-90mins, Peak: 60-90mins. Wait at least 60-90mins before considering a redose.
*Snorting and boofing, with proper technique, have similar dose ranges and durations. These are often considered very efficient ROAs, but they work best with pure powder. Pressed pills contain a lot of binding agent, making this less effective
-Light: 5-8mg, Common: 8-12mg, Strong 12-23mg, Heavy 23+mg
-Total: 4-7hrs, Onset: <20mins. The comeup is often reported as “smoother” with boofing. With good technique, either method should have you at your peak within an hour. Wait at least 20mins before considering a redose. It can also be cut into many small bumps and worked up to the desired dose over some time, rather than taken all at once.

-Stimulants are generally considered unnecessary, as 2cb is already energetic by itself, and can increase risk of side-effects and cardiac problems.
-Tramadol lowers seizure threshold and is risky to take alongside psychedelics
-Be very careful mixing with cannabis and other psychedelics, as intensity can increase unpredictably.
