happy December! with the last month of 2025, I implore everyone to learn to let go for this month - any worries, anxieties, past trauma, past bad experiences, learn to let it exist as a merely a wandering memory and not let it dictate your life! we are a continuous work in progress meaning that we inevitably will encounter such uncomfortable and unpleasant experiences, but with a new year approaching this is a reminder that the choice of peace lies with your decision to let go. so just let go!!!! the world is so big and this is nothing more than a fraction compared to all the goodness the world has to offer u :-)

i absolutely LOVE conversations with strangers. it's so crazy how refreshing and perspective changing such a simple talk can be. a few days ago on the way home from university I was having a conversation with my grab driver, and we talked about all sorts of things that night. we spoke about psychology and its relevance in today's society, talked about his son and how he supports his son in fetching him to school everyday at 7am, mentioned about our Singaporean society and much more but there was never a moment of silence in the 40 minute ride home. and it's crazy because it really reinforces the belief that everyone has a story. everyone surrounding us lives a life that is not so different from ours, that we truly have a sense of shares identity in this country. and that people are people, and we are not really strangers after all. the uncle was mentioning how he always talks to his customers in the grab, and that occasionally people would tell him to be quiet (which is perfectly normal) but it's quite saddening that in today's day and age we've become so much more isolated and recluse because the concept of connecting with those around us has slowly become more foreign. I'm really a sucker for the kampung spirit because to me life is rooted in the humanistic connections and humans THRIVE off social connection (i learnt this in psychology lol). we are social creatures for a reason yet we've started to become ashamed of it!!!!! I hope one day we still appreciate and preserve the art of conversing with strangers, no matter how daunting or scary it gets, because it's the small bonds we form that keep us connected as a society and i hope we never lose sight of that

in a period of transition and growth, where we are forced to move on with our lives and be evicted from a familiarity we know so well, i realised how important it is to be able to appreciate the new people we meet that enter our lives. but even more so, it's so crucial and important to appreciate those who have stood by you in your journey as you enter a new era. the friends and family you bring with you into a new chapter, who are willing to hold your hand as you embrace the unknown. it warms my heart to see friends reuniting, or the occasional meet ups of groups of people whom you've seen grown and blossom together over the years :") i will never, ever, ever regret meeting and KEEPING the people i have in my life now, through all the adversities, trials and tribulations we had to go through to get to this stage ❤️ people are sosososos precious!

ill always be a big believer that the best things in life come and show up when ure not suspecting. the big surprises or the small joys; we remember them best when we never once saw it coming and when it does eventually come, it'll feel like a gift from the universe itself :-)

and knowing that rejection isn't a telltale sign of failure but rather a signpost of misalignment - be it with a company, an internship, a scholarship, an activity or club... stand true to what you believe in and please never ever give in or attempt to please others with visions and thoughts the belong to you and you only - the way you view and perceive the world in a different lens is what makes this world a slightly more colourful and beautiful place :-)

im starting to appreciate the art of learning that the right things will come into your life at the right time. understanding that there is a time and place for certain canon events that'll naturally (by some force of nature or divine intervention) fall into place when you are ready. and it's so comforting to know that we aren't done growing yet and that there's still MULTITUDES of opportunities waiting for us, each potentially better than the next. so even if we don't get it this time, what if we enjoy it more later on!!!!!!! what's the rush!!!!!!!!! we get more time to GROW before we are ready how truly fitting is that even if we can't directly see it right now :")

one misconception i wish i could have entirely eradicated earlier or in the very least, had been more open-minded towards is the idea of individualism - something that should be celebrated and not shamed/looked down upon. we all grew up with the intrinsic nature of wanting to seek companions and friends in all we do - the simplest things like going to the bathroom or going to lessons together, that it becomes such an ingrained habit of ours. it serves as a coping mechanism towards our fear of being alone. and it has truly carried forward (and encroached even) every aspect of our lives. it has now become a social norm to go about life with others, that when someone breaks free from this normality, we automatically assume they're 'lonely' or 'have no friends'. and this is simply a notion i wish I could unlesrn, for it really is something terribly untrue. I hope I (and perhaps society as a collective) can start to slowly detach ourselves from our inherent idea of solitude - understanding that it is not a social label, but rather an independent choice, one that is admirable and courageous. i ought to think that those who are comfortable being surrounded by their own presence are people who have mastered the art of being content with one's own thoughts, feelings, emotions, but also negating the external effects of outsider commentary in thinking that they are lonely or unhappy. it takes sososo much not to be distraught whenever you're in a room full of people who are in groups or in cliques but not giving a damn about being seen alone. it takes maturity to love independence like that, and one day i hope i can learn to slowly enjoy my own company rather than to desperately yearn for that of others instead. to be able to dance to my own music rather than to wait on other people to do so with me. as we grow up we will increasingly find ourselves in spaces whereby independence and freedom by surround you, even engulf you, in every aspect of your life. as kids, we would have found ways to run away from it, but maturing is learning to appreciate it more as a privilege rather than a social affiliation to you as an individual. tldr: being alone doesn't make you a loser!

i think so little of a world that is so big. the world is SO BIG! one small inconvenience means a small bruise and not death by a thousand cuts :-)

remember to make an effort to know someone. i don't just mean get to know the very fundamental and surface level things, talk about aspirations, past experiences, learn about their dreams, passions, what fuels them, what their fears are. conversation that allows you to know who they truly are, because that's what differentiates your friendship when u forge that deep level of connection that transcends the surface level.

in a really weird phase in my life where the people around me are friends but not close friends just yet. it's so unsettling and unnerving because im so uncertain of what the future holds for my current friendships... but we must learn to be comfortable with the unfamiliar and embrace it so! that's exactly what ill do 🤗🤗

i hope you remember that beneath all the nonchalance and aura you have, lies your deep, precious soul. and people can be so cool, but where the beauty lies the most is your heart and the love you have to give to those around you. the small things that make you just uniquely you - your fascination with geology, your little smiles that light up whenever you see your favourite comfort food, the words of affirmation you give to those around you. the world will pressure you to fit in yet the world also digs beyond those layers of you to see the gems that lies underneath. don't ever lose yourself and your heart in everything that you do :-)

the power of a compliment is one we underestimate soso severly. you never know how much someone needs to be told that their outfit is so well thought, that they are a ray of sunshine, that their smile lights up the world! im not talking about the typical "oh ure so pretty" or "oh ure so good at sports". i mean the niche compliments, the highly specific ones that shows them you're aware, noticing, and validating the small details and parts of them that makes them uniquely them. learn to love and give love because there'll never a harm in being nice for the sake of it!!!

your sign to document your day by voice recording it and then listening back to it when you want to reminiscent past memories/want to feel nostalgic. im currently revisiting some of my old recordings from earlier this year and last and the special thing about voice recording rather than writing is that you can genuinely hear and feel the emotions in my voice. it's almost as though it's a little snippet of a memory i wish to replay.

for me as someone who's an extroverted introvert, im someone who can start a conversation bubbly and build rapport, but after the first few interactions it's really difficult for me to dive deeper until I'm more comfortable with an individual, and because of that I feel boring and lame - uninteresting because I can't make jokes or I can't be my true self until I really get to know you on a more than superficial level. it takes time for me to warm up and seeing people around me crack jokes with others who are more extroverted in nature then leads to a cascade of emotions and thoughts if I really am just an NPC in real life of if there's more to me than just that. but I also acknowledge that you don't have to be loud or outgoing for your personality to shine. there is a quiet power even in the quiet people, a quiet personality that shines through in the way you carry yourself, you help others, you smile and do the small things in life. our personality doesn't always show in our words but in the things we do daily. people are more observant than they are listeners, and people do notice you!!!! so don't feel as though you need to have the funniest jokes or the loudest voice just to be the most fun or interesting one in the batch. I promise that people see you for who you are if you're willing to just be yourself and not let your subconscious mind hold you back from doing just that.
