Parker Solar Probe • 2018, a car-sized spacecraft named after Eugene Parker, launched to explore within 3.8 million miles of the Sun’s corona. • Moves in a highly elliptical orbit, using Venus’ gravity assist to spiral gradually closer to the Sun • FIELDS (Equipment on Parker): Measures electric & magnetic fields in the corona. • Aditya-L1 is India’s solar observatory at Lagrange Point L1 for continuous Sun observation. 3. Enrichment Centrifuge • An enrichment centrifuge is a device used to extract the uranium-235 isotope from a sample of natural uranium. • Uranium (U), atomic number 92, is a heavy radioactive element used in nuclear fission reactors. • Natural uranium consists of 99.3% U-238 and 0.7% U-235. Nuclear Reactors need 3-20% U-235 • Nuclear weapons need U-235 to be enriched to around 90%
