Introduction / Background: Some people will text you and ask a straight question like, “In how much time can I get a job?” No one can answer this question, but it’s better if you introduce yourself first and provide some of your background. Then, someone will be able to answer your question. Recently, a person asked how to register with the GMC. I said, “You need to pass OET first.” He said, “I have done it.” Then I said, “You need to pass the PLAB.” He said, “I’ve done that.” It would have been easier for me if he had said, “Hi, I am Dr. ABC, from AAA, works as ABD. I have completed my PLAB exam. How can I get registration with the GMC?” Sometimes, when I ask people for an introduction, they will just say, “I am Dr. AAA" or “I am in my final year.” Now, who is Dr. [Name]? Is he a celebrity? A few days ago, someone asked a question. I replied, and then he said, “Are you in the UK?” (Although I shared this in my introductory message). But when I asked him, “Would you like to introduce yourself first?” he disappeared. Like people don't even share their names, but want to know everything about you. I don't hesitate to reply to it, but I think, it should be from both sides. it's essential for anyone seeking guidance to start with a proper introduction and provide some context about their situation. This not only shows respect for the person you're asking for help but also ensures that you receive the most relevant and accurate advice. A well-structured introduction paves the way for meaningful and effective communication, making it easier for others to assist you. Let's strive to communicate clearly and respectfully, which will ultimately benefit everyone involved.

The Royal college of physicians have published new guidance on Educational and career support for locally employed doctors (LEDs) and international medical graduates (IMGs). Led by one of our elected councillors, Professor Partha Kar, the guidance intends to support employers and clinical leads to create high-quality local training pathways for these doctors, with key messages including: - becoming an LED - supervision and professional development - supporting IMGs new to the NHS.
