Letβs begin with the starting pitching.
Orioles: Chris Bassitt
Bassitt has been horrendous on the road so far this season. His road ERA is 8.02. Across 21 road innings pitched heβs allowed 30 hits, 19 runs, 4 home runs, and 12 walks, a batting average against of .341, while only striking out 12. To make matters worse, this Red Sox lineup has had success against Bassitt. In a combined 98 team at bats VS Bassitt, the Sox are hitting .276 against him. Most noticeably, last June the Sex faced Bassitt and scored 9 runs over 2 innings.
Opposing Bassitt will be:
Red Sox: Payton Tolle
Tolle is a lefty, which should be to his advantage today. This season the Orioles have been one of the worst lineups against left handed pitchers, batting just .224 as a team. This will also be the first time anyone on the Orioles has seen Tolle pitch, which often benefits the pitcher. The Orioles will have a right handed heavy lineup tonight, Tolle has an incredible batting average against of just .159 vs rightyβs. Following Tolle is a strong Red Sox bullpen which ranks 2nd best in MLB over the last month.
The Red Sox as a whole have underperformed all season long, so it can be uncomfortable betting on them, but today sets up to be a great spot for them to find some success and avenge last nights loss to this Orioles team. | 1 345 |
