Pole who pretended to be Wagner member to be sentenced in Britain. A Pole was convicted in Britain on Friday for pretending to be a member of the Wagner group, the Times newspaper reported , citing data from London's Old Bailey criminal court. The newspaper reports, citing lawyer Simon Gledhill, that Kucharski "told people and created the impression" that he was a member of the Wagner group. As the newspaper notes, citing prosecutor Dan Pawson-Pounds, there is no evidence that the accused participated in the group's activities. "Piotr Kucharski, from Watford, pleaded guilty to being a member of the organisation between September 15 and October 28, 2023. The charge alleged that he claimed to be a member," the Times reports. In September, the Home Office announced that the UK had formally designated the Wagner Group as a terrorist organisation and added it to its list of banned organisations. Membership of or support for the Wagner Group is now a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison. The UK government has also gained the power to confiscate its assets.
