Many of the assaulters on the raid had been a part of countless other operations all over the Middle East, where intel suggested that mission might be "the one". The operation to finally find bin Laden. Many of them yielded nothing in terms of intel, and most were dry holes. May 2, 2011, was just another night, to most. The only differences were the gear, the helicopters used, and the risk associated with unlawfully entering Pakistan's area of operations to execute the raid, all assaulters on board were able to proceed with their mission after the aircraft crashed in bin Laden's compound yard.
When the Red Sqn assaulters reached the third floor of bin Laden's house and killed him, one of the element leaders announced the mission phaseline for target neutralized: "Geronimo".
