IN DEFENSE OF DEFENSE Thursday September 10th, 6-9pm In this post/butoh and somatic exploration, we will reflect and dance with the nuances of our defense barriers and the layers in our bodies/feels/thoughts. We'll move with our impulses before and after barriers and divides, especially for qtbipoc + trans folx in the world today— within us, as well as between and beyond. These explorations emerge from Min’s movement research on and around systemic vi0l3nce. Staying embodied with layers of defense - in the shared realities, from past realities, and historical memories - from small confrontations, protections into bigger, and defense that remains… Moving with, through, against, in defense. To stay… find the next... With moderate level of intensity that is held by the artistic languages and kindness. This workshop is for queer BIPOC + all trans folx. Please wear cozy moving clothes, and bring a journal if you have one. Min Yoon (they/she/it) is a post/butoh dancer and vocalist. Min researches unintentional / subconscious movements with impulsive improvisation - to explore difficult truths beyond language and inherited social knowledge. They are Korean-American & bigender, with mixed experiences of social/physical pain, defense, and privilege with dedication toward intersectional healing. dancetotheedge.com IG: @dancetotheedge To sign up, please email dancetotheedge@gmail.com or DM @dancetotheedge

Let’s Use Our Voices! with Tina & Holden 5th September, 5pm-9pm To jumpstart a trans voice workshop series at Casa Kua, Tina and Holden will be leading a 4-hour workshop. We will first work on technical use of the voice and how to train the voice to pass and then will move into an embodied voice practice to ground our voices in our breath and bodies. All voices and experiences are welcome!  The workshop is for trans people looking to use their voices more confidently and in a more embodied way. The first part of the workshop will focus on people who want to do voice training for passing. The second part of the workshop is for anyone wanting to feel their voice more connected and rooted in their body.  Please wear something comfortable, like you would wear to a yoga or meditation class. Something you can move comfortably in. Nothing that restricts your breathing (tape instead of binders if you can, but it’s ok if you prefer not to). Holden Madagame (ma-DA-ga-mii) (he/they) is a queer, trans, indigenous, not-disabled, classically trained singer, researched based performer, and ancestral practitioner-in-training originally from Michigan, USA and living in Germany since 2013. Since publicly coming out and taking testosterone in 2014, he has paved the way for other trans opera singers to come out publicly in the field.  Tina (she/her) is a queer, trans, white, neurodiverse speech therapist focused on trans (fem) voice training originally from an isolated farm in west germany. Already before slowly transitioning since 2002 she was part of left queer activism and hosted mostly transfeminine voice training groups since 2011. "COMING HOME TO THE BODY" As summer comes to end, our bodies prepare for a new season—a fresh chapter and new experiences. Amidst these changes, it is essential to feel at home within ourselves: connecting, nourishing, and mindfully moving our bodies. We will awaken our sensual energy-that unique force we express and experience in diverse ways. This introductory session will take us on a movement-based journey to balance our chakra system while immersing us in an exploration of our sensuality, breath, and corporality. Limited spots available so be there on time and bring your yoga mat if you can (+ one extra for a sister if you have more)

The NADA protocol is a standardized form of acupuncture involving five ear points, administered in a specific setting. It has proven to be an effective treatment for individuals experiencing stress, trauma, or a wide range of mental health conditions. NADA involves the gentle placement of up to five small, sterilized, disposable needles at specific points on each ear. Participants sit quietly in a group setting for 30-45 minutes and allow the treatment to take effect. The NADA protocol was developed in the 1970s in New York's South Bronx by members of the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords to address addiction within Black and Puerto Rican communities. Treatment using the NADA protocol can support people who: want to better cope with daily stress suffer from stress or burnout symptoms are dealing with traumatic experiences experience restlessness or sleep disorders are managing chronic pain are struggling with addiction or substance use (alcohol and or drugs) are living with mental illness experience hyperactivity or eating disorderswant to stop smoking There are no known medical contraindications. NADA is a non-verbal treatment method, meaning participants do not need to speak or share anything unless they choose to. We offer NADA sessions on Mondays at 18:00 for Queer BIPOC, and on Thursdays at 18:00 for Queer BIPOC and all Trans, Inter, and Nonbinary people. Please check our Telegram channel or Instagram for the current monthly schedule.

Medical Counseling We offer medical consultations twice a month on topics related to physical and mental health, as well as questions about medical transition.
