Canton Coin has secured an important regulatory clarification in the United States.
The SEC's Division of Corporation Finance granted the token no-action relief, stating that it would not recommend enforcement over its programmatic issuance without securities registration, provided the network meets the conditions presented to the regulator.
The SEC's position also considered Canton's governance structure and the absence of a central party responsible for generating returns for token holders.
The decision provides specific enforcement assurance for Canton Coin, but it is a staff no-action position based on the facts presented, not a blanket exemption or binding declaration that all digital commodities are outside securities laws.

Crypto.com is winding down its retail app services in Hong Kong.
The company announced that its consumer app will shut down in the region on February 1, 2027, citing regulatory changes and a shift in its global business priorities.
The withdrawal does not signal a complete exit from Hong Kong.
Crypto.com's local subsidiary still has a pending VATP licence application, as the company looks to concentrate its regional operations on institutional and corporate clients rather than everyday retail users.

The newly established Gelephu Central Bank can include digital assets in its reserve portfolio alongside traditional investments, following a Royal Decree issued by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
