قال الشيخ محمّد بن إبراهيم بن عبد اللطيف بن عبد الرحمن بن حسن بن محمّد بن عبد الوهّاب -رحمه اللّٰه-:
مجرّد قول لا إله إلا الله لا يمنع من التكفير، بل يقولها ناس كثير ويكونون كفارًا؛ إما لعدم العلم بها، أو العمل بها أو وجود ما ينافيها؛ فلا بد من النطق بها مع أشياء أخرى أكبرها معرفة معناها والعمل به.-📘شرح كشف الشبهات (صـ140)

“The guidelines laid by Abu Bakr Al-Qahtani in response to the fitnah of takfir of the aathir with incorrect principles and it being attributed to the mujahideen and their shuyukh without their knowledge for a year and a half. Despite the fact that it contains corrupt implications and false speech such as his claim that the sahaba refrained from takfir of those who returned to worship of idols while knowing they returned to their worship. Or him stipulating that we must explain before making takfir of those who do no consider idol worship to be shirk in the first place. Or him making takfir from the requisites of asl ad-deen and making it an unclear matter in which you must stipulate the proof. Meaning, the one who refrains from takfir of the mushrikeen needs to have the proof established upon him and the doubts removed from him. And other than that from (false) speech and implications.”

not every 'adhir should be takfired btw
it depends on some conditions
but saying it should be left to scholars is actually sussy
