this is what ChatGPT 3.5 had to say to my initial plan for this essay question. I wasn't completely content with how it looked, thinking it may not have been clear enough. But the AI cheered me up a little bit.

Your plan seems to cover key points related to the essay question. Here are some thoughts on each section: 1. Violence and explicit behavior: - Mentioning animation movies and their attention-grabbing nature is relevant. - Discussing disturbed states and abnormalities is a good way to connect violent content with potential behavioral issues. 2. Action-packed visual content: - Highlighting the impact on attention systems and the excessive triggering of dopamine receptors is a valid point. - Connecting this to a loss of enthusiasm towards a simple lifestyle adds depth to your argument. 3. Lack of activity: - Discussing the consequences of physical and mental tiredness is relevant. - Connecting this lack of activity to changes in behavior, such as not doing homework, strengthens your argument. 4. Bad parenting: - Addressing overindulgence with screentime and its impact on boundaries is a good perspective. - Linking this to the loss of discipline is essential in supporting the idea that it's not just about what children watch but also about how parents manage screen time. Overall, your plan seems comprehensive, addressing both content and time aspects. Ensure that you provide evidence or examples to support each point. Also, try to maintain a balanced discussion between the two views, as the essay prompt asks for a discussion of both perspectives. Additionally, make sure your opinion is clearly stated in the essay's conclusion. Good luck with your essay!

Some people say that what children watch on television influences their behavior, while others say the amount of time children spend watching television influences their behavior. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

I could be biased, but for some reason this feels like my best work, so I would expect 8.0 from this. I am also considering working with an ex-examiner on Italki to get some feedback because at this point, I feel a little stuck, not knowing exactly what my major weaknesses that are stopping me from 8.5-9.0 are.

There is often a debate as to who should finance studies in the world of science with some claiming it is the government's duty. While I recognise potential benefits government-funded research can bring, I still support private funding as it is more financially liquid and less prone to criticism. Admittedly, state-funded studies may yield better results. Since the state funds allocated for scientific advancement are more result-oriented rather than profit-oriented, this often proves to be more effective, fueling scientific progress. Take NASA as an example. This government-run organisation prioritises progress at the cost of profits, sparing the money for what it is most needed. I, however, think scientific research is better off through private financing. Liquidity of finances is a major factor to take into consideration. Having a greater amount of finances at their disposal, private companies can expend more money on science, which may allow for a deeper level of research that is impossible without substantial expenses. Additionally, managing scientific research under a private budget would prevent potential negativity towards government-controlled studies. This negativity is often driven by taxpayers' concerns regarding their money allegedly being spent irresponsibly. Because government actions are more susceptible to criticism from the public, their actions might be subject to stringent restrictions and regulations, which could hinder progress in the realm of science. Meanwhile, commercial giants such as SpaceX and Pfizer seem to be free from criticism as long as their activities entail reasonable profits. In conclusion, although government funding is more focused on achieving results, scientific studies should be in the hands of private companies as their contribution could be more significant and less reliant on public voice. 274w.

Scientific research should be funded by governments rather than commercial organizations. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

This is what I think a perfect example of what a "real" speaking session looks/feels like and how the assessment should be viewed. Lar Ryan explained the score perfectly. Just watch and learn. P.S. not all YouTube mock speaking tests are good enough to watch, a lot of them just misrepresents the real exam conditions, including the scoring system.

It is important to note, however, that most of these changes aren't necessarily a sign of mistakes but rather improvement, precision and conciseness of the language. So please don't make assumptions like: "Oh, you should never say "therefore" but instead say "consequently"."

The revised version by ChatGPT: I disagree with the notion that extreme sports are inherently dangerous. Like other sports, they involve a certain level of risk, whether it's martial arts or gymnastics. In fact, this inherent risk is what makes these sports exciting for both participants and spectators. Consequently, banning extreme sports would likely elicit a negative response from the public. Furthermore, advancements in sports technology have made it possible to participate in extreme sports with minimal danger. The availability of sophisticated safety gear and the exceptional skills and techniques possessed by athletes contribute to reducing the risks involved. For instance, professional rock climbers utilize specialized equipment capable of supporting heavy weights, equivalent to ten average men. This, combined with their expertise, significantly decreases the likelihood of fatalities in this sport.

My first draft: I do not agree that so-called extreme sports are as dangerous as some people might think. All sports involve some element of risk, whether it be martial arts or gymnastics. This is in true nature of sports that makes them even more exciting for the audience as well as the participants. Therefore, banning such sports is bound to provoke negative reaction of the public. Additionally, today’s advancements in the world of sports have enabled us to engage in extreme sports with minimal danger owing to the most sophisticated safety gears, and the ultimate finesse and techniques that athletes possess. In the case of rock climbing, for example, the clippers that every climber uses are capable of holding weights equivalent of ten average men, which, in combination with the expertise that professional rock climbers have, can significantly lower the death rate in this sport.

As any other human being, I sometimes find it hard to practice my skills on a daily basis. I also feel a little lazy, particularly when it comes writing essays. It is understandable since it takes tons of effort and time (40-60 minutes of intensive work). So I urge you to switch your approach to reach a compromise with yourself. For example, instead of writing 250+ words essays left and right, try writing only a paragraph (main body paragraph) and develop that to make it as good as possible. Just one paragraph seems easy to deal with and it can actually be more productive in the long run because you eventually run out of energy to write full essays. So now, practice only writing one body paragraph but be sure to analyse it using state-of-the-art facilities such as ChatGPT. I will show you how I deal with it myself in a moment.

An expensive gift that I would love to give someone when I save a lot of money is a luxury yacht. This extravagant and lavish present would be the epitome of indulgence and opulence. The yacht would be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, including spacious cabins, a fully stocked bar, a gourmet kitchen, and even a helipad. It would have a sleek and modern design, with elegant furnishings and panoramic windows offering breathtaking views of the surrounding waters. The yacht would also come with a professional crew, including a captain, chef, and deckhands, ensuring that the recipient and their guests have a truly luxurious and unforgettable experience. They would have the freedom to explore pristine coastlines, visit exotic islands, and enjoy various water sports and activities right from their own private vessel. This gift would not only provide endless enjoyment and relaxation but also serve as a symbol of success and achievement. It would be a testament to the recipient's hard work and dedication, showcasing their ability to enjoy the finer things in life. Whether used for intimate getaways or extravagant parties, this luxury yacht would undoubtedly create lasting memories and offer a lifestyle of unparalleled luxury and sophistication.
