A very important reminder of decreasing amount of food eaten during Ramadan…. 1) Imam Malik ibn Anas said: I’ve been informed that there was a group of people in bani Israel who used to fast the days and when night came and they were presented with food, a man among them would say: “do not eat a lot lest you drink a lot and end up sleeping a lot” -Narrated in kitab Azuhd of Imam Ahmad 2) Ibrahim ibn Abu Ayub said that the tabi’i Muhammad ibn Amr Al Ghazi used to eat only Two little (bite sized) meals in Ramadan -Narrated in kitab As siyar 3) Al Hassan Al Basri used to say: “Fast and do not transgress in your fast” He was then asked: “what does it mean to transgress in your fast?” He replied: “ For him to say make me so and so dish and so and so dish because I’m going to be fasting in the morning.” -Kitab Azzuhd of Ibn Al Mubarak 4)Imam Ishaq ibn Rahoya said: “The sahaba رضي الله عنهم did not used to busy themselves with food (in Ramadan) like the people of our times do.” -Narrated in Massa’il Harb Al Kirmani التقليل من الطعام في شهر رمضان - عن مالك بن أنس رحمه الله قال: حدثت أن نفرا من بني إسرائيل يصومون النهار، فإذا كان الليل، ووضع الطعام، جعلوا ذلك نوائب بينهم؛ يقوم رجل منهم فيقول: لا تأكلوا كثيرا، فتشربوا كثيرا، فترقدوا كثيرا.¹ - قال إبراهيم بن أبي أيوب: كان (التابعي) محمد بن عمرو الغزي يأكل في شهر رمضان أكلتين.² - كان التابعي الحسن البصري رحمه الله يقول : صم ولا تبغ في صومك قيل : وما بغيي في صومي ؟ قال : أن يقول الرجل : ارفعوا لي كذا، ارفعوا لي كذا (يعني من الطعام) فإني أريد الصوم غدا.. ³ - قال الإمام إسحاق بن راهوية : أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كانوا لا يشتغلون بالأطعمات شغل أهل زماننا.⁴ [ ¹ الزهد لأحمد ٥٢٨ " ²السير ١٢/ ٥٣٦ ³ الزهد لابن المبارك ٦٠٦ " ⁴ مسائل حرب] https://t.me/ahlalhadeeth99

Abdullah Ibn Masood (May Allah be pleased with him said): Indeed, hearts are containers. So busy them with the Quran and do not busy them with other than the Quran. قال #عبدالله_بن_مسعود  رضي الله عنه : إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْقُلُوبَ أَوْعِيَةٌ فَاشْغِلُوهَا بالْقُرْآن وَلاَ تُشْغِلُوهَا بِغَيْرِهِ . Translation adjusment for previous message Abdullah Ibn Umar asked a man who had committed sins: Are your parents alive? The man said yes, my mother is alive. Ibn Umar: by Allah, if you speak to her with kind words and feed her then you will enter Paradise as long as you stay away from the moojebaat (sins that will make you enter hellfire) قال ابن عمر لرجل أصاب ذنوبا : أحيٌ والداك ؟ فقال : عندي أمي . فقال ابن عمر : فوالله لإن أنت ألنت لها الكلام وأطعمتها الطعام ، لتدخلن الجنة ، ما اجتنبت الموجبات . The importance of tawakul… That tabii’ Sa’eed ibn Jubair رحمه الله used to say: “Tawakul (reliance) on Allah is the embodiment of Iman. And he used to say in his dua’a: “Oh Allah, I ask You to make my tawakul true and sincere, and to make me of those who have husn Athan (roughly translates to good opinion) of you.” -Narrated in Musanaf of ibn Abi Shaybah #دعاؤه #أقواله كان التابعي سعيد بن جبير رحمه الله ورضي عنه يقول: التوكل على الله جماع الإيمان وكان يدعو: اللهم إني أسألك صدق التوكل عليك وحسن الظن بك.

The Immense Importance of Tawheed… Tafsir of Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه Regarding the ayah that translates to: “This is the day that the truthful will benefit from their truth.” -Surah Al-Mai’dah ayah 119 Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه said: It means, “ this is the day that the people of tawheed will benefit from their tawheed.” -Narrated in Tafsir of ibn Abi Hatem Note: this day of course is the day of judgement as the rest of the ayahs around it show. #تفسيره ▪️قال الله تعالى : (هَٰذَا يَوْمُ يَنفَعُ الصَّادِقِينَ صِدْقُهُمْ) [المائدة: ١١٩] عن ابن عباس (ت. ٦٨ هـ) رضي الله عنهما : "يوم ينفع الموحدين توحيدهم"

Do we order the children to repeat the prayer when they laugh in it? Or do we ignore their laughter and let them be? Ibn Syreen said: They used to order us (the adults when he was a kid which were the sahaba and early tabieen) while we were children to repeat our prayers if we laughed in them. -Narrated with an authentic chain of narration in musanaf of ibn Abi Shayba Comment: we see this too often nowadays where many kids at home or even in the masjid play around in their prayers and often times their parents and nobody else around them says anything to them to correct them. Kids will be kids but it’s out responsibility to discipline them and correct them when they’re not performing their salah correctly even if they’re too young to be held accountable by Allah. We need to instill in them the respect for the salah so that when they’re adults they actually understand how important the salah is and don’t play around with it. True knowledge Abdullah ibn Massoud رضي الله عنه said: “Verily knowledge isn’t how much you narrate but rather knowledge is having the khashya (comprehensive word that encompasses fear and humility) of Allah.” -Narrated in Ibtal Al hiyal by ibn Battah #أقواله قال عبدالله بن مسعود: ليس العلم للمرء بكثرة الرواية و لكن العلم الخشية.

Appreciate this blessing, that no nation has had other than this ummah…. Saed ibn Jubair (the great tabii’ and mufassir) said: Nobody has been given what this nation has been given: (And he recited the following ayah that translates to): “Those who when calamity befalls them they say: To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Those are the ones who’s Allah’s salawat (ie special kind of mercy and remembrance by Allah) and mercy shall be upon….” And then Saed continued saying: If anybody from the previous nations would have been given this blessing it would have been Yaqoob ﷺ, have you not heard his words “Oh, my sorrow over Yusuf.” -tafsir At Tabari Note: so rejoice dear brothers that despite these hard times the Muslims are facing across the world they have this ayah to hold on to and their eman in this ayah keeps them strong and is a major sort of comfort. AlHamdulilah for this blessing upon us. #تفسيره حدثنا أبو كريب قال، حدثنا وكيع، عن سفيان العُصفُريّ، عن سعيد بن جبير قال: مَا أعطِيَ أحدٌ ما أعطيت هذه الأمة: ﴿ٱلَّذِینَ إِذَاۤ أَصَـٰبَتۡهُم مُّصِیبَةࣱ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّاۤ إِلَیۡهِ رَ ٰ⁠جِعُونَ • أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ عَلَیۡهِمۡ صَلَوَ ٰ⁠تࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِمۡ وَرَحۡمَةࣱۖ﴾ [البقرة ١٥٦: ١٥٧]، ولو أعطيها أحدٌ لأعطيها يعقوب عليه السلام، ألم تسمعْ إلى قوله: ﴿یَـٰۤأَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ یُوسُفَ﴾ [يوسف ٨٤]

Increase the amount of your righteous friends…. Sulaiman Al Farisi (رضي الله عنه) Whoever makes wudhu and perfects it, then goes to the masjid to pray in it then he is Allah's visitor. And it is upon the visited one (ie. Allah) to show generosity towards his visitor. قال #سلمان_الفارسي ( رضي الله عنه ) : مَـنْ تَـوَضَّـأَ فَـأَحْـسَـنَ الْـوُضُـوءَ ، ثُـمَّ أَتَـى الْـمَـسْـجِـدَ لِـيُـصَلِّيَ فِـيـهِ كَـانَ زَائِـرًا للهِ ، وَحَـقٌّ عَـلَـى الْمَزُورِ أَنْ يُكْـرِمَ زَائِـرَهُ . ( ابن أبي شيبة في المصنف ٣٥٧٦٠ )

Sulaiman Al Farisi (ra) قال #سلمان_الفارسي ( رضي الله عنه ) : مَـنْ تَـوَضَّـأَ فَـأَحْـسَـنَ الْـوُضُـوءَ ، ثُـمَّ أَتَـى الْـمَـسْـجِـدَ لِـيُـصَلِّيَ فِـيـهِ كَـانَ زَائِـرًا للهِ ، وَحَـقٌّ عَـلَـى الْمَزُورِ أَنْ يُكْـرِمَ زَائِـرَهُ . ( ابن أبي شيبة في المصنف ٣٥٧٦٠ )

Abdullah Ibn Umar رضي الله عنه: "Shyness and faith go hand in hand. If one of these two are missing, the other leaves as well" قال #عبدالله_بن_عمر رضي الله عنهما : إنَّ الْحَيَاءَ وَالإِيمَانَ قُرِنَا جَمِيعًا ، فَإِذَا رُفِعَ أَحَدُهُمَا رُفِعَ الآخَرُ. (ابن أبي شيبة في المصنف٢٥٨٥٩)

Beware of seeking help through other than Allah Ch. 12:42 And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, Mention me before your master. But Shaitan made him forget to mention [to] his master, and he [i.e., Yusuf] remained in prison several years. ✏️ Ibn Abbas: Shaitan made Yusuf forget the remembrance of his Lord when he (Yusuf) sought relief from other than Allah.
