Initially Profit (P) = x - y
If the selling price is doubled profit will be tripled
2x - y = 3P
⇒ 2x - y = 3(x - y)
⇒ 2x - y = 3x - 3y
⇒ x = 2y
Profit % = (Profit/Cost Price) × 100
Profit % = [(x - y)/y] × 100
Profit % = [(2y - y)/y)] × 100
Profit % = 100%
∴ Profit percentage will be 100%
