So, we have already found out that modeling agencies are not independent companies, but directly follow the rules of the fashion industry, which is headed not by fashion houses, but by fashion media giants, they still dominate the leading positions in the industry, with editors-in-chief at the top of this pyramid. These editors-in-chief of fashion magazines who set the agenda and the trends. Many people mistakenly think that the fashion industry is synonymous with the word "beauty", but this is fundamentally wrong. Also, many people think, and also mistakenly, that fashion editors-in-chief have one task - to show something really beautiful. This is a huge misconception. They have a completely different task, which I will talk about later. Let's get back to our modeling agencies. What are they really? They're just scouts. Mindless scouts of the lying industry, and it sets a very specific standard to which these modeling agencies must obey. Sort of a bar of standards and criteria. MAV. Muse @natalee007 for @mavrinmag

There is a comment to the previous post, that says that modeling agencies have already adopted and now sign contracts with Influencers and models from social networks, including those who came from Instagram, which means that they are already willing to take established media personalities with lots of followers. But it's not quite like that. Modeling agencies are not independent players in the market, they are subject to strict laws and rules of the fashion industry, and their main task is to promote those models who meet the current industry standards The main point is that the priorities of the fashion industry and the mass audience may differ significantly. Models that the fashion industry is interested in often have specific looks that may not appeal to the general public. Whereas media personalities and influencers have charm and charisma that can attract a large number of followers, their looks and image may not meet the requirements of high fashion. Agencies, being part of the fashion industry, have to follow its standards. Their task is to find those who fit these strict criteria, not to focus on media popularity. This is the reason why agencies rarely work with established Instagram stars, as their looks and style may simply not fit into the framework set by the industry. MAV.

The modeling industry, represented by the largest agencies in the world, often resembles huge financial bubbles. Where the main victims are the models themselves. Being involved in this deceptive world, girls and boys believe that a future of world-class stardom awaits them. However, the reality turns out to be quite different. Take for example such industry giants as Wilhelmina Models, Elite Model Management, and Ford Models. These agencies promise their clients worldwide fame, but do little to none, to actually promote their models. Instead of building and developing a model's brand, the agencies trap them in an endless cycle of auditions, shows, and shoots that rarely lead to personal popularity or success. Most models who sign with these agencies spend their days waiting for casting calls. They spend countless hours in lines, going through endless interviews and auditions. They might believe that their day is filled with important and rewarding actions, but in fact, their efforts tend to achieve nothing. After all that hard work, working at unimportant shows, and participating in boring shoots, they fail to gain an audience or build a personal brand. To confirm this, look at the Instagram accounts of most of the models working for these large agencies. Many of them barely have more than a few thousand followers. Even if you try really hard, it's quite a challenge to find a model who could amass more than 300 thousand followers. This is clearly not enough to talk about any meaningful popularity in today's world, where digital presence is an important part of success. Thus, models are trapped in an illusion. They feel like they are taking important steps toward their dreams, but the reality is that they are just wasting their time. Their days are filled with useless activities that bring neither fame nor success in the end. Modeling agencies are bubbles that will burst, leaving behind only disappointment and the realization of wasted time. MAV. Muse @natalee007 for @mavrinmag

Irina is an incredibly talented and driven manager whose career path started with modeling. She initially showed a great promise as a model, but it soon became obvious to me that her capabilities went far beyond being just a model. With her organizational talent and leadership skills, Irina gradually transitioned from being a model to be working as my personal assistant. With each new step, Irina continued to demonstrate her competence and perseverance. Her professionalism and insightfulness allowed her to move up to the position of manager and then to become a top manager at MAVRIN, MAVRIN Studios and MAVRIN models. Today, Irina is a key figure in ensuring the successful functioning of these businesses and her value to the company cannot be overestimated Muse @irina_dreyt

To my big surprise, I've received quite a few messages in my DM's, in which people defended modeling agencies and gave names of popular models who became media stars as if it is all because of agencies' work. To this, I didn't respond to anyone. That is why I will try to clarify the situation here. Who is actually responsible for the promotion and development of models!? Many people, as I realized, truly believe that the fame of models depends entirely on the work of modeling agencies. Let's consider the case of celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. This example shows that the promotion of models is not the achievement of agencies, but the result of the hard work of people who care deeply about them. Some people may not agree and could point out that modeling agencies work with these stars, organizing shows, shoots, and contracts. However, it should be remembered that modeling agencies are just tools in the hands of those who are really interested in the success of models. For example, Kendall Jenner is a member of the famous Kardashian-Jenner family. But does anyone seriously think that her career was promoted solely by agents? Of course not. The whole world knows that behind this success are her family members, who have created an entire empire in entertainment and fashion, and, of course, used their resources, connections, and influence to promote Kendall as a model. Modeling agencies do the technical work - they connect models with shows, advertising campaigns, and photographers, but promotion and development of brand and image is primarily the task of those who are really interested in the success of the model, whether it may be parents and relatives or close friends. In the case of Kendall Jenner, as well as many other famous models like Gigi Hadid and Kaia Gerber, it is not the agency that comes first, but the family that has actively supported them throughout their careers. These women didn't just become models because of their looks, but because of the focused and meaningful support of people who knew how to guide them in the right direction. Thus, modeling agencies can play a role, but the key role in a model's advancement will always be played by those who are genuinely interested in their success. @mavrin Muse @cristyren for @mavrinmag

Modeling Agencies vs UFC A comparison between modeling agencies and the UFC. There seems to be nothing in common between the two, other than trying to promote their proteges and give them an opportunity to gain popularity. While modeling agencies don't give models a chance to shine or provide them with the opportunity to showcase their talents to a wider audience, the UFC makes it a priority. Modeling agencies focus on using models for commercial projects, not promoting them as individuals or stars. Often models are left without significant financial rewards or fame despite working for well-known brands. Their involvement with companies does not lead to personal recognition or success that can be compared to what successful UFC fighters receive. On the other hand, the UFC provides a platform for young fighters, so that they can prove themselves in huge arenas, in front of millions of people. One spectacular fight can instantly make a fighter a star and give him worldwide fame. UFC actively promotes its fighters, which allows them not only to earn significant sums but also to become famous personalities, opening up new opportunities outside the sport. Thus, we can say that modeling agencies and the UFC perform different functions. The first one is more focused on the commercial exploitation of models, while the other one is more focused on creating stars and promoting talent. Muse @natalee007 for @mavrinmag
