I’ve always known this and applied it to my handicapping…
However it is easy to get caught up in the “must play -110 everything” game because that is what most casual bettors approve of.
I’ve since heavily leaned into the approach discussed in the post above.
I am happy to share my mistakes to teach you all something valuable.
I still average around -110. But the difference is I do not FORCE -110 picks for client approval when there are clearly higher value plays on the board.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought “ton of value on Team A at that price but they’re -160 and people may complain…. I’ll go and take Team B at -110 because I feel pretty good about them.”
Team A wins in no sweat fashion.
Team B loses.
And I costed myself and my clients money from wanting to box myself into the -110 game everyone else plays.
We’ve ditched that mindset in 2026 and have been crushing it all year long with slightly heavier favorites AND much heavier underdogs ✅
