+1AMERICANS PULL DOWN STATUE OF WAR MONGER: KING GEORGE III
Just mere hours after the Declaration of Independence was read to the public of Bowling Green, New York on July 9th 1776 after the document read named twenty six acts of aggression by the British Empire towards the Colonists. Angered masses in the city grabbed axes, hammers, ropes, torches and ladders and headed towards the statue of King George in the town square. Upset at what had just been revealed to them, the colonists began swarming the unguarded statue and climbed on its rested pedestal.
The Colonists tied the statue with several ropes and as a collective coordinated to pull the statue down. It took about twenty minutes for the statue to be completely detached and removed from its stationary pedestal, once on the ground, the colonists began throwing their axes at the statue and destroying it with hammers, some time later the statue was completely vandalized and destroyed beyond repair.
This act was not ordered by the Continental Army.

It is accused by many that the independence of Dixieland or the South was oriented in a belief that it was against the North or against America. This isn't true. The Confederacy of the Southern States was as American if not more American than their northern counterparts. The South saw the North as a tyrannical force which infringed upon their state rights and privileges, levied tarrifs and high exorbitant tax rates and influenced a rupturous economy. Of course, this was all true. The South in other words modeled itself off the government of the American Revolution, with state representation, a national constitution with amendments that included freedom of speech and religion, a right to a fair trial and unbiased jury, due process under the law, prevention of illegal searches and seizures, quartering of soldiers and a right for the population to bear arms.

THE BRITISH SCORCH OF ST PHILLIPS CHURCH - 1776
British forces in the War for American Independence descended on the town of Brunswick Town, Virginia in March of 1776.
The British Army attacked Brunswick Town and burned the church, Russelborough, and most of the homes and businesses. The church walls were the only parts of the structure not destroyed. The attack was an unprovoked attack on Continental settlers and the Continental Army. Brunswick Town was deserted and the church remains were relatively untouched for almost a century.
In March 1862, Confederate engineers began to survey the remains of Brunswick Town and St. Philip's Church. They built earthworks and trenches throughout the town, covering the remains of several burnt structures except for the church. The fort was constructed to protect the city of Wilmington 18 miles upstream, a vital port during the Civil War. The bastion was named Fort St. Philip, but renamed Fort Anderson in July 1863.
The structure remains today as a relic.
