Monk Filotheu Bălan was consecrated at the Sihăstria Monastery, under the supervision of Archimandrite Fathers Cleopa Ilie and Ioanichie Bălan, and from 1999 at the Petru Vodă Monastery, under Archimandrite Father Justin Pârvu. Between 1996-2024 he was engaged in the research of the Orthodox patristic heritage, especially that of the legacy of St. Paisie Velichkovsky, on two branches - theological and musical - with the blessing and support of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia and Bucovina.
