Space Five: Polytechnic sent two more nanosatellites into orbit 🛰️ On 5 November 2024, a Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with sixteen small spacecraft of the Space-π scientific and educational project was launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. Eleven universities, one private company and one school sent CubeSat nanosatellites into space. Hundreds of children, teachers, subject specialists, engineers, designers and programmers participated in their development. Two nanosatellites belong to Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. 📌 Read more about Polytech in Space here

A delegation from Polytechnic University visited the Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology and the National Polytechnic School of Algeria. 💫 The visit of the SPbPU delegation to Algeria was an important milestone for the further development of science and educational relations, contributing to the establishment of a strong dialog between Polytechnic University and Algerian educational institutions. It is expected that such initiatives will not only strengthen existing ties, but also create favorable ground for future joint projects aimed at improving the quality of education and scientific activities. 🌐 Read the news here

🧠✨ Polytech Scientists Make Progress in Alzheimer's Treatment! Researchers from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University have achieved a breakthrough in Alzheimer's disease. Their study was published in Scientific Reports, one of the world's leading scientific journals! 🌍📚 Alzheimer's leads to memory loss, highlighting the need for new treatment approaches. Scientists found that synapse loss is a key indicator of cognitive dysfunction, and restoring synapses may be a promising therapy strategy. The team synthesized a new piperazine derivative — cmp2, which shows synaptoprotective properties. Studies on mice indicate that cmp2 helps restore synaptic plasticity, making it a promising candidate for new medications! This research received support from the Russian Science Foundation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. Supporting science and technology is our path to the future!

Students from 22 countries united at the Golden Autumn 2024 festival! 🌍✨ On 17 October, SPbPU hosted the final of the interethnic festival, where 24 educational institutions presented their talents. 🎶💃 🎤 Participants from Russia, China, Angola, Indonesia and many other countries surprised the audience with songs, dances and instrumental numbers. Polytechnic was represented by vocalist Ilham Maulana from Indonesia, as well as a group of female students from Vietnam, who won the audience award for their dance. The multinational rock band Secret Scarlet opened the festival's extra-competitive program. 🎉 All participants received memorable gifts, and the finale ended with a joint performance of the song ‘Closing the circle’. The festival proved once again that music unites us! 🎶❤️
