🚀 Cosmonautics Day at SPbPU: From Stardust Dreams to Future Technologies! 🌠 On April 12, 1961, the world changed forever: Yuri Gagarin’s historic flight aboard the Vostok-1 spacecraft opened humanity’s path to the stars. This date isn’t just a milestone — it’s a symbol of breakthrough, inspiration, and faith in the power of science. And for SPbPU, this day holds special significance!

🌌 History of the Day & Fun Facts 🔹 108 Minutes That Shook the World: Gagarin’s flight lasted less than two hours but paved the way for cosmic exploration. 🔹 Secret Call Sign: Gagarin used the call sign “Kedr” (Cedar) during his mission. 🔹 First Woman in Space: Valentina Tereshkova, a graduate of the Leningrad Military Mechanical College (now part of SPbPU), proved in 1963 that space knows no gender! 🔹SPbPU in Orbit: In the 1970s, university scientists developed materials for the Mir space station. Today, they contribute to satellite tech and innovations for the ISS.
