Algeria hosted the 12th meeting of the Russian-Algerian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, and scientific cooperation. The event was chaired by Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev. Polytechnic University, as part of the Russian-African Network University (RAFU), participated in the meeting. The university joined the Russian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Konstantin Mogilevsky. Key discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties in education, innovation, and technical collaboration.

🔺A joint competition for students of SPbPU and KRSU is launched

The delegation included Tatiana Diodorova, Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Design and Architecture, and Sergey Salkutsan, Director of the Digital Engineering Center for Continuing Professional Education. The visit focused on providing scientific, methodological, and resource support for KRSU’s initiatives. Discussions included collaboration in education, digital engineering, and advanced professional training.

SPbPU has developed artificial skin for robots Scientists have created a prototype of a tactile sensor for industrial robots. The development will help robots better feel objects during grasping and other manipulations. Data from the «artificial skin» sensors will allow industrial robots to feel the structure of objects and control the force of compression. The work was supported by the Priority-2030 Strategic Academic Leadership Program.

A Guinean Student on Life and Studies in Russia: From the First Snow to Environmental Safety ❄️ Richard KONOMOU, a student at the Civil Engineering Institute, came from Guinea to study at Polytech in the program “Environmental Safety in Industry”. He shares his impressions:

“Before coming to Russia, I didn’t know any Russian at all, but the preparatory faculty helped me learn the basics and adapt to the new environment. My first impressions were positive; I knew that Russia is a country with a rich culture and strong science. But, of course, it was difficult to get through the first winter!”

On January 27 Teguh Imanullah, the chairman of the Indonesia National Union, together with activists of the Military History Club "Наш Политех" in the direction of "Military historical reconstruction" visited the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery. The students honored the Mother-Motherland sculpture and the mass grave of the Polytechnic Institute, where the polytechnics who participated in the Second World War are buried. This grave is distinguished from others by its engraving in the form of a book as a symbol of knowledge. The visit to the memorial cemetery on the day of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad is an important reminder of the importance of historical memory and respect for the heroic deeds of those who survived these terrible times. This day not only symbolizes victory and perseverance, but also unites people of different cultures and nationalities in an effort to preserve the memory of the past and express their sorrow and solidarity. #polyunion_reports
