I'm a 23-year-old male who has always wanted a vibrant social life but has never managed to build one. After finishing 12th grade, COVID hit and all my friends got busy with work. I took a gap year to prepare for a competitive exam but couldn't clear it. Due to financial constraints, I had to settle for what's probably the worst engineering college possible. My entire engineering batch has only 19 students, with just 100 students across all engineering programs. Most of my classmates lacked career aspirations or ambitions, though I did manage to make some genuinely good friends. However, since my college was 30km from home, I only meet my college friends once or twice a month. Career-wise, I'd always imagined working in a bustling office environment, but I'm stuck with work-from-home at a startup where I'm literally the only employee. So there's no social life there either. I do have a girlfriend of seven years, but we're in a long-distance relationship and only meet once or twice a year. I feel trapped in this cycle. I desperately want to make friends and have people to hang out with, but circumstances keep working against me. I earn well but can't even enjoy spending the money because I have no social outlet.
